I suppose Kurau and Christmas are ineligible from Phantom Memory Kurau, since spoiler[they're technically the same entity if I recall correctly.]

The poll was a tough choice for me but I picked Kanon. The reason was because of episode 10. I lost it when I watched that episode.

For the poll, I wrote in Rumbling Hearts, because while I love tear-jerking (Angel Beats! goes above and beyond in this department), there's something wonderful and special about the catharsis of being able to let go of that much pain at the end. And Rumbling Hearts is utterly built of pain.

Naruto: Shippuden, of all anime, has made me cry the most. They produced the scenes of Naruto's birth so well. Everything that happened between his mother and father brought up so much emotion.

I would have put them on it. Also, spoiler tag.

I'm surprised Tarnyang and Sainyang from Queens Blade Rebellion aren't on the list, especially because they literally are inseparable.

I've never cried when watching an anime (or movie or tv show for that matter) . The end of the Fuko arc in Clannad did give me the feels. The closest I've gotten was watching Air (the movie. Never seen the series and have no interest), such left me pretty shaken . Great film, but it probably wasn't the best idea watching it in the school library between classes.

Wouldn't this be "15 sisters" or "6 sets of sisters" rather than "6 sisters"?

Though plenty of answers could've qualified, I had to throw Angelic Layer onto the survey list -- it seems like no matter who wins the matches, you're either happy for the winner or sad for the loser, and there's plenty of off-field drama as well. Not to mention a top-notch sentimental soundtrack.

Or an even better way to procure an answer, as if there were an entire encyclopedia on this very website:

Inseparable sisters not on this list:
Annapuma & Unipuma, Dominion Tank Police,
Aria & Naria, Escaflowne.
Ayaka & Sasami, Tenchi Muyo,
Kagami & Tsukasa, Luck Star

Anime that made me cry: I voted for "Grave Of The Firelies" however
"Only Yesterday" had me a blubbering mess at the end, so-far the only sub to do that. others were:
Haibane Renmei,
Tokyo Godfathers,
Texhnolyze,
Stein's Gate.

6 Sisterses!

...a seventh sisters: twenty thousand Mikotos. Can't get much more inseparable than spoiler[being a hivemind].

...an eighth sisters: Aruru and Elulu.

Poll vote: Clannad After Story, if it's measured in liters.

First, I was very happy to see the Poor Sisters (Binbou Shimai Monogatari) get some love. Great manga and well done anime with a lovely, nice simple story.

Then, here's my "I'm a pansy" list out of the series that have made it one the poll so far:

5cm per Second
Air
Angel Beats!
AnoHana
Azumanga Daioh
Binbō Shimai Monogatari
Clannad
Fruits Basket
Fullmetal Alchemist
Gurren Lagann
Haibane Renmei
Katanagatari
Kimi ni Todoke
Millennium Actress
NANA
Texhnolyze
Toradora

But Haibane Renmei had to get my vote. It gave me the most intense entertainment-induced cries I've ever had when I first watched it about 9 years ago. The sense of loss that Rakka experienced at the mid-point of the series resonated with me very strongly. I originally planned on watching the entire series in one day when I bought it, but after episode, I think 6 or 7, I had to take a break, have a good cry, and finish it the next day. I'm glad that Funimation is keeping the series in print so new fans might still discover it.

AnoHana, Clannad, and Toradora also get high marks on my cry-o-meter. I'm also a big fan of Shinkai. I was surprised that Voices of a Distant Star and The Place Promised in Our Early Days hasn't made the poll yet.

Angel Heart(which I added to the list) makes me cry the most frequently every single time I watch it.

6 Sisterses!

...you know, it would actually be something like this in Japanese. You would use a different counter for individual people (-nin) than groups of people (-kumi).

Too many titles to choose from, so I chose the one that made me cry the hardest and feel the most awful. I don't know what it was about Little Busters (Refrain) Episode 10 and 11 but it made me feel so depressed… until I watched the next few episodes.

Other titles that I would have chosen if we could vote for more than one
- Clannad and After Story (multiple times)
- Angel Beats (multiple times)
- Wolf's Rain (those last few episodes)
- Wolf Children (the end)
- Puella Magi Madoka Magica (multiple times)
- The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (the end)
- certain Pokemon movies Very Happy
- Air (multiple times)
- Steins;Gate (when the realisation of sacrifice was made)
- Terror in Resonance (the end)

There are probably a few more but these are the ones I remember off the top of my head.

Man, I'm legitimately, unsarcastically envious of all of you who can cry so easily at fictional works. Even when I'm really into the stories, they don't typically affect me that way. Without exaggeration, in the last 10 or more years, I think that only a single fictional story (across all mediums) has managed to make me cry. (Though said work managed to do it more than once.)

But looking through this list, I remembered that I wasn't always this way. When I was much younger, I used to cry much easier at fiction, and there's one story on the list I definitely remember did make me cry: ..........Sailor Moon. Anime hyper Ah, to be young and more emotionally engaged again...

I wonder how many people will vote Clannad despite Clannad After Story (which is also on the list) being the series they are actually thinking of.

I think it's quite alright to treat them as a single entity, despite, yes, the "after story" segment being the most emotionally driven.
