Yes. This is one anime where you do not want to be talking about what happened in the first episode - especially the ending - with anyone who hasn't seen it. All such comments should be in spoiler tags. I, for one, would have been ticked to find out what happened with the first episode before I watched it. It's too big a surprise for it to be discussed openly.

The answer to those questions seem (to me at least) pretty easy so I'm going to assume those are rhetorical questions that are unnecessary to answer

Bucking the formula once in a while is a good thing, even for such a simple thing as the first episode telling you anything at all about the series...though come to think of it, the first episode DID strongly inform the ultimate tone of the series.
And it's not as if a lot series don't manage to waste at least an episode's worth of running-time on weak stuff. This was a an episode well-spent.

All I can say about the opening ep is this. When I was watching it I was like.. meh, a half-way decent paranormal action show.
At the end I was "OMG!"
Seriously, I don't get ecstatic about too many things, but that ending was fantastic. I also agree that the ending definitely captured the tone of the latter parts of the show (and 2nd ep).

Sorry guys, I don't mean to bump dead topics, but I just found out about this (I'm obviously far out of the loop) and I wanted a place to voice my approval. Thank you, FUNimation!!
