Dude, you have no idea of the sheer spending power of the Japanese otaku, do you? Look at this picture here as an example of how hardcore some otaku in Japan can be: http://www.pixelbuffer.com/haft2know/blogimages/otaku-room.jpg Estimated Fair Market Value of his room (I'm guessing he has at least 100 of them, with each at a rough cost of $200 each): $20000 These guys might have no life, but they have the money to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars buying $50-60 R2 DVDs, $80-100 eroge titles, along with countless figurines, doujins and other memorabilia. Considering this, what's it to them if they have to spend $20 more for a hooker? It's a freaking bargain. This is also why you moe-haters will never win: The otaku vote with their yens and you guys don't. (If you think about it, being an otaku is actually cheaper than raising a family in the long run, though.) |

Wow, that is pretty bizare. Though I am surprized Luffy D. Monkey hasn't been mentioned besides me.
On a side note, I found it slightly ironic, if not hilarious the translation of that title, considering the product. I wonder what will be invented next? |

Anyways, the term otaku is nowhere near as derogatory in Japan now as it was several years ago. People can still have their obsessions, while maintaining a social life, and make a decent living (spending power is right, lulz) Many of your favorite titles also come out the otaku sub-culture, like Higurashi (see the documentary Akihabara Geeks) and any Type Moon stuff (Shingetsutan Tsukihime, Kara no Kyoukai). What makes you an expert about that issue? According to REAL doctors who work in PRESTIGIOUS organizations like the World Health Organization & UNAIDS condoms are in fact the BEST method to prevent sexual disease & pregnancy (as opposed to ridiculous “abstinence” campaigns who prove to fail everywhere). Your “comment” is offensive and reflect a medieval way of thinking. People is free to not raise children even if the general population is aging and the born rate is decreasing. Japan is an overpopulated country in first place. |
