Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a case of paranoia gone so far it's stupidity. So he doodles weapons in a notebook, we all have. SO he takes things apart and puts them back together. Who hasn't done that? So his home had chemicals that could go boom if mixed a certain way: ALL homes have chemicals like that. It's just a bloody witch hunt due to a fear caused by Connecticut. First sex was blamed by the media, then rock n roll, then books, then video games, and now drawings and a curiosity in how things work are to blame for massacres. When does the stupidity end? When they realize that there really was something wrong with the killers' minds, not anything they had around. |

Everybody wish this was, even I thought it was a joke article, it's not. This is what happen when the worsest, deadliest massacre happen, this overreaction happened and now people can't tell which is threatening and non-threatening. |

I know that it's been not too long since the tragedy in Connecticut but come on, this is rather ridiculous! Arresting a kid just because he's drawing weapons in his notebook? Who hasn't done that and just because he draws weapons doesn't mean he's intended to plan a massacre.
As for the deconstruction and reconstruction thing and the chemicals found at his home, that's just paranoia talking and really doesn't really mean anything unless if the kid does plan something sinister, it's all baseless assumption. Once when the kid's parents bail their kid out, they should sue the government for this ridiculous accusation. |

I drew some figures to pass the time on my break at work and got called into a meeting.
I used to draw stuff in my spare time all the time while at school. I knew folks who drew shadowrun stuff folks with guns and orks with axes whats the world fallen into? free speech is a thing of the past next will be freedom of thought as well. |

There goes the possibility of a bright, young, next generation of an Engineer student down the black hole.

Yeah thing just went too far, As I said people can't tell which is threatening and which is not. Oh great, I hope it doesn't end up with a police officer or security guard somehow let a guy with a pistol through security checkpoint lazily. |

I do remember reading about the paranoia of US students writing names in their "Death Note" replicas on Wikipedia. I mentioned it before on this forum. Here's the link to it again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Note#Copycat_crimes_and_imitations |

I could not count how many boys draw weapons during classes. Considering the fact that every average household has enough common-use chemicals in kitchen and in medicine chests/first-aid kits to build a bomb from it, police has a lot of arrests to do. |
