I don't think you quite understand the absurdity of the situation here.

The fact that she truly believes her husband is responsible for such a crime speaks volumes about her already.

Let's just say, there's lady's got serious woman issues if she has problem just getting her own husband arrested so readily.

I think we can safely say Draenor doesn't understand what misogyny is.

No, he definitely does. What happened in this thread is a pretty standard display of misogyny. Something happens involving a woman, woman gets attacked and her motives impugned based purely on wild speculation and assumption that she must have done something wrong and that the man is entirely innocent. We know absolutely nothing about their marriage but notice how some people are assuming she had something against him prior to her finding this, but no one has even raised the possibility that HE might not be that great a guy outside of his porn choice at all. Well, except maybe his choice of woman. Nope, she clearly is frustrated by a lack of sex or was otherwise looking to screw him over. No one made any such comments about the man.

So it's misogynistic to base judgements on what's known instead of making assumptions? Rolling Eyes Let's review exactly what we know about each:

Wife: Turned in her husband to the police for possession of sexy cartoons.
Husband: Plead guilty to obscenity charges.

You're right that we don't know enough to make any actual judgements, but people are wont to do so anyway and the scarce facts don't offer a charge heavier than "idiot, possibly a pedophile" for him; meanwhile, without knowing why, her turning him in for a noncrime doesn't make her look very good. It's a simple case of jumping to conclusions, no malice needed(I'm reminded of a book I read where a girl became a social outcast for calling the cops to break up a party - she had perfectly good reasons, but telling no one left her as nothing more than a petty narc in other kids' eyes).

Considering the topic of the discussion thread is a man going to prison for child porn, I've got to say I vehemently disagree with that statement.

Here's the thing: A woman having her motives questioned does not == her entire gender as a group having its collective motives questioned. One potentially misogynistic statement has been quoted in this thread, and the person who wrote it just replied to clarify their views.

If you view every legal dispute between one spouse and another in our society as an assault on the propriety of your gender, you need to let go of the persecution complex and grow thicker skin. The actual woman in the actual case we're discussing is torpedoing her actual spouse's actual future based on flimsy and controversial charges, and deserves to have her actual motives scrutinized.

If your response to a wife reporting their spouse for committing what they perceived to be a crime is "they were jealous because they didn't get enough sex," yes, you're being misogynistic.

>_> So if a dude who reported his wife for reading Gon x Killua doujins was said he only did it because he wasn't getting any it would be misandry then? Reaaaaally projecting there, dude. That kinda BS is why everything is so PC in American shows. You can negatively portray men, but if you do something negative with a woman it's automatic misogyny apparently... double standard much?

All right. Let me reiterate my point. Hopefully, more clearly this time.

The law, as currently written, indicates that obscene drawings of children engaged in sexual activity are illegal. You may think this is a bad law and should not pass constitutional muster (I'd agree). But it is the current law. When someone commits a crime, it's the responsibility of our legal system to sort it out. It is not reasonable to expect the average person to be a legal expert (that's why we have a legal system).

I disagree with the law and the outcome, but i also disagree with imputing motives to his wife who reported an actual crime (regardless of my opinion on it). We could have a productive discussion of topics we can know stuff about (the law, plea bargaining, and prosecutorial discretion) or we can question the motives/sex live/spousal trust/marriage of someone who we know nothing about for reporting a crime as if she's responsible for the faults of the system.

I don't think every poster doing this is coming across as misogynistic , but a couple are (see the lines I quoted in my prior post).

Meanwhile.............. Renowned photographer Leslie Kee arrested over obscene photos:

  • The 41-year-old photographer, known for his pictures of Japanese pop stars including Ayumi Hamasaki, Yumi Matsutoya and Kumi Koda, was arrested along with two Japanese publishing firm employees.

The trio sold seven copies of a book “containing many photographs explicitly showing male genitals and others” to two customers at the gallery in the upscale shopping and entertainment district of Minami Aoyama, a Metropolitan Police Department spokesman said.

The trio could be jailed up to two years and/or fined up to 2.5 million yen if convicted of the obscenity charge.

The world's gone crazy!

He should have put the small black bar over the glans, then it wouldn't have been offensive.
