Battle Angel Alita hardcover one
Junji Ito’s Frankenstein Also recently received my Cowboy Bebop anniversary set. It’s nice and the vinyl is a neat gimmick that suits the show’s vintage style, but I have all these small disappointments about it that add up to me feeling a little conflicted after shelling out $300. Couldn’t the (admittedly lovely) art book and LP be included with the BDs in a snazzy box? Would it have really been too difficult to spice the soundtrack up with more eclectic and fondly remembered tracks like Mushroom Hunting, Cats on Mars, or Blue? And for all the hype Funi made about a newly recorded extra, couldn’t they have at least done more than get Koichi Yamadera (Who most Americans, frankly, do not think of as the voice of Spike) to spout the same old platitudes about a show he didn’t create? I’m just a little disappointed, y’know? I know I’m kinda nitpicking, but this freaking 20th anniversary deluxe set celebrating a beloved classic could have been so much better. |

Went on a Half Price Books run today. Grabbed:
Rayearth DVD (I still need the MKR series itself, but was glad to have found the OVAs!) InuYasha: The Final Act Part 1 DVD ($7 for it was a good price; eventually I'll get Part 2) Fairy Tail Volumes 30, 38-41, 44-45 (30 completed a gap in the collection that I had for awhile, 38-41 continued past the last volume I had... then I made another small gap because I saw 44-45 in the clearance section and didn't want to pass it up. >.>) |

I find the $50 threshold to be more manageable for my spending since I've been a long-time Rightstuf subscriber and typically splurge a fair amount on their Holiday Sale each year, though I might be a bit more frugal on what titles I get this year with my Crunchyroll subscription since many Rightstuf, Viz, Sentai, and Discotek titles are streamable on the site. The two titles in question aren't among the titles on Crunchyroll and seemed to get decent reception with what I looked up on them, hence decided to snag them up and give them a look at some point. Though suppose out of curiosity, have two questions... 1. What's the spending threshold for free shipping on Sentai's store? 2. Do they accept payments from Paypal accounts and Paypal Credit? I usually resort to the latter if I want to snag something up right away, but lack the money within my Paypal account to pay for it at that point. |
