The golden rule of the internet (or is should be), I am not sure why people think that just because they are online that they can act so mean and just have such an ugly outlook on everything. I don't if anyone feels this way but when I see someone posting how their angry at the mods and this and that, it's makes me wonder is that how they are with their parents? Do they scream and yell at their teacher and friends?

This is a forum of ideas, and not everyone is going to agree, but the people regulating it are reasonable. Do I agree with everything they do, no.

The best part of the forum is that a large group of anime fans can get together and discuss anime, if it be in agreement or rather by intelligent arguement. And when the discussion become off topic, or a too out of control they step in and redirect the discussion.

But do I think they do a good job, yes. And who really agrees with everything someone does anyway? There are rules, follow them.

I believe that Tony K. and Nagisa do a great job here. They both have other things to do outside of the ANN forums, they take time from their day to help enforce the rules and to ensure that things run smoothly. I really don't think enough can be said for the job they do here.
Till next time,

I'm all for public humiliation of people who repeatedly violate the rules after being told over and over to abide by them, or for people who do something exceptionally stupid ("..." or posts like this). My only real concern is that it can drag good threads off topic and get them locked.

Minor and first time offenders should be dealt with using gentle rule reminders or PMs.

Since this thread seems to be about me, I'll just add one thing for the record...

I've PM'd Nagisa previously. He's replied only a couple times, always to berate me further. What's the point in that? Oh, and once I got a post re-instated somehow, but there was never any PM back explaining what happened, just silence. Nagisa may have a lot of brown nosers in his court, but that won't change my opinion of him or his trolling ways. A moderator shouldn't go around trying to push people's buttons and then replacing their responses with yet more bullying just prior to locking the the thread.

Well then I'm a "brown nosers" I am sorry that I think that Nagisa does an excellent job here. I think more or less you have a problem with somone asking you to follow the rules. And I am not sure how he earns a trolling status......that makes little to no sense. I have no doubt that we (or anyone) could change your mind, there are difficult people in the world who won't compromise or reason.

I try to be an open minded kind of a guy, but Nagisa really knows how to push my buttons. If you think brown nosers was too harsh, then so be it. Maybe Nagisa treats you very well. If so, more power to you. All I know is that I've seen Nagisa treat me and many others with a bullying attitude that seems to be more about trolling than moderating. You can see it in his own words that he enjoys messing with some folks, apparently just because he can. That's not something I'd be proud of if I were Nagisa, nor is it something I would defend as an average user even if Nagisa had always treated me fairly.

I think the mods do a great job. And I seem to be the only one here that thinks so, but I personally like Nagisa's take-no-crap attitude. He really only gets pissed off at repeat offenders, or at first-time posters who ask for fansubs or people with no grasp on the English language. I've yet to see him jump on a newbie who made a simple mistake, like making a recommendation thread and that tried as best as they could follow the rules but still didn't meet the standards, or someone who made a thread that said, "Hi! I'm new here!" without posting in the Introductions thread. Trolls and spammers deserve a good verbal slap in the face.
And you know, he could have been a lot meaner to this guy.

Nagisa treats me as he does with all user who follow the rules, the same. I knew Nagisa before he was a Moderator and he is same now that he is. The only differences is these boards run smoothly now that he helps lock up threads that are unnecessary.

All I know is Nagisa will become fed up with certain user once they repeatedly continue to break rules or cause more problem then to that of actually trying to carry an discussion

Trust me, you're not the only one. And Nagisa's even WORSE with the peverts and their porn site links! Twisted Evil Laughing For which I'm extremely grateful!

ANN's forum = ANN's Rules

If you don't like that, take your ball and go home.

Listen, I have never gave them praise in a private format other than a simple thank you. If I show any eating of shit, it would be in public, which I don't think I'd qualify either.

If you want to enter the gate, you have to be cleared by the gatekeeper. Further more if you enter the gate and the king(rules) doesn't like what you are doing, the gatekeeper may throw you out. Or he may just chastise you. It is your decision to enter the kingdom.

With that in mind no one is trying to step on your rights. And don't be so easily offended either. He has said bad things to me too, but 25% of the time he was right. And the other 70% he was on perfect ground to say such things.

I am not in his court, but I do know he does more good than harm, as well as his counterpart. And I certainly consider both of them rational, which is more than you can ask for with other places.

I am sorry I keep going on, but really are you that sensitive. Your not a sailor until you've had a few lashings.

sorry to be melodramatic.

Personally, I like the "zero tolerance" approach that Nagi, Tony, and the rest of the moderators at ANN use to combat all of the spamming and trolling that has been running rampant around here, especially within the last few months. As already mentioned in prior posts, the mods get upset when the spammers and trolls display resistance to authority. The mods are suppose to be the equivalent to police officers or security guards; their job is to make sure that discussions are maintained in a peaceful and orderly manner. I never had any major issues with any of the mods in the 2+ years that I've been on the ANN fora, and when I do make a mistake and they inform me about it, I can accept it without making a scene or blowing up in their faces. It is unfortunate that there are very headstrong users that don't like the way this site is moderated, or accuse them of being "trolls" when they're trying to restore peace and calm within the community. To those users I ask this: If you're upset about the way things are run here at Anime News Network, then why did you come here in the first place?

Firstly, why are you still here? You refuse to abide by the forum rules, you hate the people here, and you're overwhelmingly unwelcome. It would seem you love the abuse.

And a forum user should read and abide by the rules, especially after being reprimanded by the moderation or administration. But you didn't want to do that, and as a result, you waived all right to complain when I came down on you like a ton of bricks.

Because I can, and because reaching you through civil means has met with failure in the past. What's the point of even trying when you just refuse to listen?

I shouldn't be proud of my ability to not take "teh intarweb" too seriously? I shouldn't be proud of the fact that I have improved the ANN experience for the majority of its users? I shouldn't be proud of the fact that I don't let myself get walked on by the dimwits and morons and trolls and spammers of this great, intangible, electronic jungle?

Damn. That's effed up.

Going to other forums where the mods don't work to make sure the rules are followed has given me a great appreciation for this site. I deliberately come here to avoid scrolling past the normal bs.

That said, the only thing I find really annoying here is how frequently I seem to come across posts complaining about the mods. No, I am not specifically talking about daxomni's post. I read that one after a list of others. It seems to be the one thing people can get away with the longest, I assume because the mods don't want to come off as jerks. Anyway, it can be a tad bit irritating to get interested in thread and to watch it go downhill like that.

Believe me, I've not been treated so nicely by Nagisa, but that was because I brought it upon myself. You are going through a good experience so that you can become smart enough like people like myself to be a better poster on these forums. The longer you keep the crap up, the longer you'll get your so called "treatment".
