How much H stuff is in this? Is it at all approachable if you're not a fan of eroge, or does it revolve around sex?

It's not a nukige(aka something that revolves around sex) but it does have a decent amount of sex in it and a lot of fanservice. The sex scenes are much shorter and less graphic than the ones you'd see in eroge today and are pretty important for character development in some cases. It's still far more story than sex. If you like visual novels, you should play it if you can. While it is a bit dated, it's still a really great experience.

the original game had sex,but it was more story-driven,so only 1% of the game had sex there are sex scenes between father and daughter,though.
the remake,however,will probably tone down this stuff,since 5bp doesn't work with adult stuff and mostly with consoles.

It was released on Saturn & Windows without sex I believe.
I hope it returns the voice cast. Always great to hear Kikuko Inoue.

Yu-No is considered pretty much a masterpiece of the genre.It was fan-translated a few years ago and I strongly recommend to play it. |
other titles that took influence from it were Radiant Historia, the PSP Tactics Ogre remake, and Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward due to its utilization of a branching paths system.

Coincidentally the studio that did the original is called elf. Anyways since I don't think I've seen 5pb do eroge I'm assuming this will be an all-ages release. And Ar Tonelico character designer? Nice.

Surprising that someone would decided to remake this title. Man it's been ages. Hell, I remember how those who played the game used to talk about how much they liked this game. When was that? Long before social networking of today. I know there was an OVA that was released some years ago that is now out of print. But I'm curious to learn what this story was about.

The OVA completely butchers the story to a near unrecognizable degree. It removed somewhat important characters, the main antagonist, and had one of the heroines in the story take on parts of the role the main antagonist had to make up for them no longer being in the story. There are also a lot of lesbian scenes despite the original story never having any if I remember right.
The actual story of YU-NO is somewhat similar to a very loose outline of Steins;Gate. It's about analyzing the historical impact of time travel instead of a scientific one and putting together this huge mystery of what exactly is going on and has happened after the events of the prologue as an overarching story followed by each individual route. It follows a much more branched story line than S;G though with each route being about something different. There isn't too much order to how you do the routes however you need to experience certain events in one timeline/route to be able to fully complete certain parts of others. All the routes then kinda come together for the epilogue which is the part of the story the VN is most famous for I believe. However I may be wrong on that account since I always see varying opinions on that part of the story.

It's a 5pb release (and would be console first), so it would obviously involve removing the porn. The Sega Saturn release handled the H-scenes very well though.
The real question is how much does the Saturn release (which got an 18+ rating despite no porn) need to be tone down . The story touches on numerous things which a CERO D rating would likely take issue with (5pb usually goes for CERO D), and it's one of the titles which would be better served with a CERO Z (which 5pb only got for Chaos;Head).

Ah. That's interesting. Also surprising that Stein's Gate is mentioned as they have some similarities. Though I wonder what the adult element of the game was or was that only for the OVA. That's pretty sad if the OVA was that bad. Good ol' Pink Pineapple.

Loved Radiant Historia and the Zero Escape series, so this definitely piques my interest!
I'm kind of crossing my fingers that it's not an eroge, though. H-scenes just don't really do anything for me, and I find myself trying to rush through them to get to the more interesting bits. Don't really know 5pb's track record for games, though, eroge or not.
