The "push" Toriko had is remembered to be a lot bigger than it actually was. In terms of color pages, magazine covers, etc its numbers were pretty much in line with every other series. The only real "push" it had was being featured near the front of group covers with the likes of Naruto & One Piece. Toriko is doing quite well in an age where most readers just want cute teenage bishies. Its sales are not a failure by any means. They could be better, yes, but they aren't bad either. |

It's been getting that push for a while now, movie, anime and the whole jump gintama year thing and a lot of covers too. Toriko has over 20 million in print, even with that horrible 2nd half of the anime. And if you compare the same amount of volumes, toriko's sales are better seller than eyeshield 21, hitman reborn, and fairy tail. http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1369397
It'll still be highly rated in the magazine and have consistent sales, (better than beelzeubub, world trigger etc...meaning it would be fine and still get an anime regardless of the push. |
