@mangamuscle:

Even the President's Commission on Obscenity and Pornography - essentially created to justify renewing the porn ban after the Supreme Court struck it down - couldn't help but find free access to porn was a good thing. The ruling establishing that child porn is bannable whether obscene or not is also based on the narrow grounds of protecting children directly harmed by the material, not on the baseless logic of fapping leading to raping.

Why would you adapt something that Amazon Japan de-listed? Just...why?

Why not? If they stopped adapting anything that amazon de-listed, amazon would have de-facto power to censor anime adaptations.

No single company should have that kind of power.

I wonder what will happen to anime when the Olympics will draw near...
I posted my "glowing" 1/10 Mu review in the last thread so i am done but i will point out that the amount of good manga form that particular spin-off magazine is currently at a zero.
Young Animal popper though is at least half filled with good content and a certain Berserker when he bothers to show up. Young Animal "Innocent"/Island are a joke too and Hakusensha mostly publishes manga for female audiences so i get none of this. Japan is Japan.
Moving on.

@Rederoin What amazon did has nothing to do with the definition of censorship and LO is still cruising along but at least it is published as porn and not all ages as this one is.

From what I know, Comic LO(lolicon hentai magazine) is still in publication. It just show how different the culture between the USA and Japan is.

Hopefully nothing. The Olympics should not be an excuse for censorship.

It's not even up to debate that all traces of lolicon will perish from open media and plain sight. Anime has already parted from it almost completely, and so will follow manga and LNs.

I won't. Fate/Kaleid still airing next season.. this manga getting an OVA. All those other manga with loli fan-service, and Comic LO to top it off.

I have an ominous feeling that as the 2020 Olympics draws nears, the attempts of government-issued censoring of shows like Paradise of Innocence will become more frequent.

However there's really has been such a substantial decrease in loli content in anime, it's almost non-existent in anything that's not a manga, LN, or VN. It's even decreasing rapidly in non-H video games. It won't disappear entirely but anime and video games are operating on around 5% capacity or less when it comes to loli content.

My bet is that the winter, spring and summer seasons of 2020 will be self censored and many manga will go underground/on hiatus, just to reappear when the olympics are behind and there are no foreign reports looking for anything scandalous to report back home.

To add to this, now even the adaptations of lolicon source material tends to cut it out or tone them down almost completely.
Just look at Nanoha ViVid and compare it to the manga. They are obviously putting all the detailed fanservice shots into the older girls, despite the manga favoring our lolis.
We'll see what Kaleid Liner has to offer, but after the second season, I don't think it will show much (probably only the kissing scene again, and that's that).

It always amuses me when people raise the pedo flag against Paradise of Innocence. If thats how you see it, thats all well and good, but thats hardly the purpose of it.

Talk to any of your parents or grandparents and youll find kids used to run around naked or strip or do any of the stupid stuff in this manga and it was innocent kid fun. The fact adults are looking at it as something perverse is the problem. It doesn't need to be censored or banned or anything. You just need to look at it for what it is. Its supposed to be about the innocent ignorance of kids and the crap they get into for their own amusement.

While I certainly do not question your point about the 'innocent kid fun' or about the fact that even some of the more pervy things that occur in the series (I watched the first OVA blind, just to see what everyone was freaking out over) are reasonably realistic things for kids to do, I think that asking people to 'look at it for what it is' and telling them not to look at it as perverse is contradictory.

While the behavior may be something you might expect from kids, the way it is used in this context and the way it is made (panty, camel toe and upshirt shots aplenty) is clearly exploitative and intended to be sexually arousing to the right audience, or it would be without the highly suggestive grinding and the spoiled milk used as a proxy for semen, complete with implicit orgasm.

I personally don't think that any media should be banned (save for that which is produced by or for harmful criminal means) and that the individual should have both the freedom and responsibility to choose what they consume, but the suggestion that this series is not blatantly sexualizing it's pre-teen cast takes a lot of selective ignorance or wishful thinking.
