Wait seriously?! Even the right wing? any sources?

Hate speech is factually hateful and is against the rights of a certain person/people. Offensive speech depends entirely on the perspective of the people involved. For example, some people are offended by swear words. I'm not. That's offensive speech, but not hate speech. On the other hand, using the N-word or calling a gay person the f-word is HATE speech. Huge difference. Don't mix them up.You can't seriously think calling someone a "doucebag" is the same as calling an entire race "insects". If he was targeting one specific person, it wouldn't be racist either. But he specified Chinese people as a whole.

That would be more believable if we didn't see examples of hate speech being deemed non-hate speech all the time. You can literally shout "kill all white people" as you assault someone and the court will just rub their chin and says "I see no evidence this is a hate crime or it being racially motivated".

Seems hate speech has a pretty fluid definition.

This very news article on which you are commenting on literally mentions 'Japanese neo-nationalists'... I mean, if you missed THAT, I feel like me providing any additional sources will also not be read by you... o.O

Lol stop with your exaggerations. The Chinese government had nothing to do with this. Nor did communism. We get it already anyway, you hate communism. Okay, you have that right but spreading exaggerated fears does no one any good.
You have a lot more trust in the Chinese government than I do. Considering what the Soviet Union used to do the idea that the Chinese government is testing ways to control the entertainment industry in other countries is a reasonable concern. There have been experts warning people about this for years and it is important to keep in mind that communist governments view entertainment as political propaganda which is why they are so obsessed with controlling it.

The difference is that communism (by it's actual definition) isn't about degrading other races or attacking the actual lives of people. Hate speech does.
70 million people have been killed by communism and all China has to do is convince people that being against communism is hate speech. That would have been unthinkable even 30 years ago but I could see the mainstream media going along with that today.

Even as much i hate communism , I can tell China is a communist/socialist country only in name.
The real communist/socialist countries are countries like North Korea, Cuba or Venezuela

In reality China is a Empire governed buy bureaucrats as it was in the past, now they even have a new Emperor.
If Mao returned to life, he would ordered the killing of the chiefs of the Communist Party, and a new cultural revolution.

You do realize he's not involved in writing the story itself and only drawing the manga adaptation of the source light novel by author Jiraigyo, right?

Johnny Mendes is right, Economically, China is a less progressive version of capitalistic society, pretty similar to USA pre-civil movement dare I say, and some are really overestimating how much Chinese government can control the media, as there are always plenty of political and societal criticisms can be seen in a daily basis, I highly doubt anyone fearing the imaginative communism is actually aware how Chinese media works.

Oh, just a little info, remember the banned anime in China? Do you know how they got banned? People reported them, be it parents or certain haters audience. And most importantly, Chinese cultural agency is so damn lazy and just banned the anime if a lot of people reported them. Sorry, not as much controversies as some wish. Still the government is lazy as they are unwilling to even find out what are they banning.

True, in terms of economics China is more capitalistic than most European countries and North Korea is the best example of a true communist country. At the same time though the actual government structure of China is communist. The economic power in China is kept in the hands of the government and you have to be an official member of the communist party to own a business.

There are plenty of people who would say that your example of offensive speech is hate speech and that is the problem of relative definitions. There isn't any concrete difference between offensive speech and hate speech apart from what media organizations say. If they suddenly start declaring anti-communist speech to be hate speech than it will become hate speech to a lot of people. Due to Chinese influence there is an increasing number of Hollywood movies with flattering portrayals of the Chinese government. With anime and light novels though China can simply declare anything that criticizes authoritarianism and communism as hate speech. It is a simple tactic but since it works we will see more examples of this in the future.

Communism (like capitalism) is an economical model. As for the government model, modern china used to be a party dictatorship (like we had here in Mexico for 70 years) but now that they have removed term limits seems Xi Jinping is going to be president for life (like Vladimir Putin or Kim Jong-un) so they are in a transition to plain old dictatorship.

Not really. The reason why business owners choose to become party members is to secure preferential treatment in their business dealings, better access to credit, property (including state property to be privatized), licenses and contracts and favorable administrative dispensations. Party membership also become a source of business connections.
In conclusion, they become party members because is easy and more profitable to do business in China that way and not because is a per-requisite.

Is like in the old empire, if you are close to the power, you will benefit from it. You can still have a business if you are not in the party, but it would be less profitable.

I don't really like the words he chose but I have to straight up agree. I don't like it but social media is powerful than ever. It's really scary how you can say something wrong at any time of the past, present, and future. It's true. They shouldn't be making anything negative about people such as race, gender, harassment, etc, etc. There are times in our life where we say things we shouldn't have because it was wrong then but we learn. We learn what is right and wrong. I don't mean things we disagree but things that truly hurt so much of others of what makes them who they are.

I see people starting to say how problematic Rooster Teeth or any celebrity in general from stuff they have said in the past from so many years ago. Tbh, I don't care what they said in the past unless they are doing better, understand that was wrong, and making the world better. If they are doing more good than harm then that's all that matters. I will never forgive what Logan Paul ever did but he is doing so much in helping out. I don't care if he's doing it to look good or if he really means it.

That's just me. I know people are going to say I am right or wrong. They could be right in their views. Everyone is different on what is right and wrong.

It is not rocket science to not make references to war crimes and to go on a Twitter rant about other countries using racial slurs. In most society you will lose your job.

It is amazing that when a person mocked the death of totalbiscuit nobody blamed Ubisoft for not wanting to be associated with the personified PR disaster anymore. But racial slurs and warcrimes? I guess that is no issue!

Not really, it is the plain old golden rule (he who has the gold, makes the rules). If said japanese comments were made about some other nation instead of china, you can bet nobody would have noticed and even if ANN wrote an article, nothing would change the next day.

I legitimately laughed out loud when he said 'It's like a dystopia! I'm shaking!'

God, what a snowflake. He sounds exactly like those thin skinned 'anti S.J.W' reactionaries. If anything, Japan is way too light on racism. So I'm glad international audiences now have the power to stick it to these creeps.

Knowing how these situations work, I'd bet money that this guy is a low key bigot afraid about his thoughts slipping out and having to face the consequences of his actions.

1. Communism is economic and actually a varied ideology with most modern Marxists subbing to the idea of anarchy
2. Maybe but like I'm going to what gets you in trouble in nations with stronger hate crime laws. Inb4 someone says cowboys and Muslims isn't hate speech.
Also influence in Hollywood outside of a larger market no. Most directors are still westerners with a few exceptions and even then in terms of pull in the overall film industry India and even Nigeria produce more and India often has higher box office pulls. The second wealthiest actor is Bollywood
