The fact that he makoto says, spoiler["Dating Kotonoha is really...tiring." ] makes me think less of him in that one instant (even though on his date with katsura he did some of the dumbest shit I've ever seen from a protagonist that wasn't for comedic effect). I'm not doubting he's worse, even if Yamato did pull off some pretty spectacular feats of stupidity(though it's a bit too much to get into now). I'm hoping for a bad ending now, just to see makoto get his just desserts  Assuming he f's up that badly at all of course

Oh yes, I will see.
And IMO, Yamato was actually tolerable, to a degree. It wasn't until he spoiler[started going out with Honoka] that I would start yelling at my monitor. 
I finally watched Episode 3. It was interesting to see the rest of Sekai's friends, and we finally get a good look at Kotonoha's situation in her classroom. What kind of bit- ...I mean person would make fun of Kotonoha? *tear* Kokoro was pretty amusing too.  And wow, they have quite the revealing uniforms at the restaurant Sekai works at. 
Although overall, it was a pretty harmless episode. Except for the last 5 seconds.

Damn, I never thought about that. His strong enthusiasm about going to her house seemed harmless to me. As for the other thing, he definitely seemed shocked, but he didn't seem all that disappointed to me. Though now that I think of it, he already did receive a kiss in the lips from her before, so I can see where you're going at.
I'm beginning to think that too. While it was irritating, his actions on their first date didn't really affect me all that much. Though when he said that line, the seeds of disgust were finally sown on me. *Eagerly anticipates Episode 4* |

Episode 4 made me hate Makoto more. Well, not hate, just intense dislike.
spoiler[First thing of course is that he's WAY WAY too horny. I mean grabbing Katsura's breast on the roof...he barely got her to make out with him and then he wants to slide to the next base right away. Then when Sekai is giving him "special training" (she's a sly one, I got to hand it to her) he completely lets go of all thought about Katsura and tries to do Sekai right there! Although I'm personally hoping for a Sekai ending this series might also take one of the "bad endings" from the game and Makoto dies. If I remember correctly I think one of the girls stabs him or something, not my best choice of ending but I certainly wouldn't complain about it.] |

On the ending:
If the series spoiler[doesn't ending badly and with carnage, there's probably going to be an angry fan mob and a boycott of all future TNK productions. They probably will end it with one of the "bloody bad" endings though, considering they're already making Makoto at this point even worse than he was in the game.] |

WELL aren't we getting a little too eager there makoto...  Of course it never helps when Kotonoha actually says she,spoiler["feels bad for not letting him satisfy his desire." Well hey you're not his private sex kitten! He at least needs to stop thinking with his dick(although by now its painfully obvious to anyone he needs to....)]
spoiler[After Makoto feels up Katsura, he actually gives her the cold shoulder when they're on the train....unbelieveable(and he manages to feel her up again! What luck! ) Then when he talks to Sekai about it, he manages to deliver one of the most tactless lines delivered, "But I don't understand why girls think location matters." Yes....we have a winner, any lameass shounen romance protagonist needs to STEP THE **** DOWN, Makoto just took their place.  And no of course location doesn't matter, we should just do it anywhere we please; maybe a box or behind a bush....or hey a dumpster! Why not!?  ]

And a slut... Yeah, it's pretty funny that they'll probably need to whip out one of the bad endings in order to please the fans(ya know assuming most of them dislike makoto)

While the idea was clearly ridiculous and Sekai silly for suggesting it, it was never Sekai's intention from the start to have it turn out the way it did. spoiler[It was something innocent and harmless at first, with Sekai leading Makoto to particular "romantic" places so they can do a mock kiss and Sekai can critique him on how he did, so he can make Kotonoha happier. At the start, Sekai didn't intend to actually kiss him, but rather she truly wished for him to be happy with Kotonoha, so that she herself can continue to express her love for Makoto through the role of a "confiding friend", and partially through Kotonoha herself by playing coach on both sides. By the time they end up on the rooftop, Sekai realizes her extremely strong feelings for Makoto but desperately continues to resist, reminding Makoto that it is merely "tokkun" (special training) and that they shouldn't go too far. However, the more Sekai requests "harmless things" from Makoto (starting with linking hands, then touching her hair), the more she realizes she can't contain her feelings for Makoto. It eventually ends up worse and worse as she requests worse things, such as caressing her breasts, which Makoto was clearly not hesitant to accept. When Makoto pushes her down, that's the point where she realizes she cannot contain her feelings anymore, and thus agrees to him. Sekai's intention was truly harmless from the start, but since Makoto was willing to give into pretty much any request she made, it became a huge problem and she couldn't refuse him, and as a last desperate resort, makes a completely unrealistic claim that cheating with him can still be considered "tokkun".] The end result was malignant and honestly, quite ridiculous, but the process of getting there was understandable, albeit somewhat unrealistic. Although I disagree with the notion, you can definitely make a case of sympathy in Sekai's case. However, Makoto's behavior is undoubtedly unexcusable. |

Well then hopefully she can realize spoiler[what a creep he is, I mean aside from the "training" the only thing I have wrong with Sekai was the fact that she kissed makoto after having hooked him up with Kotonoha. Not to mention why they both want him anyway....I mean the date with Kotonoha he just left her standing there the whole time bored(not to mention his comment in episode 3) and the fact that he can't get his head out of his ass, err pants I mean. Well I guess that's just the way it is, "Love has its reasons, of which reason knows nothing." ] I just can't believe she's falling for that guy, hopefully she'll come to her senses.

Well some women have interesting taste for men, some may like those kind of men. Anyways I'm glad to see that the plot strays away from the conventional romance story. As my thoughts for episode 4, spoiler[Makoto is truly clueless but you can't really blame him because it seems as if Kotonoha is his first girlfriend. Those magazines under his his bed don't exactly help either, it just puts thoughts in his head of what he wants to do to her instead instead of with her. Sekai comes to be a major factor in affecting the relationship, especially how she gave Makoto somes "special training." Now he has two girls to really worry about. His head is full of mixed ideas now.] Let's all pray for a nice old fashion bloody ending

Made it crystal clear that he doesn't give a flip about Kotonoha. While partially the reason he seems to prefer Sekai is because he gets less nervous around her, his ulterior motive (that he refuses to admit) is because Kotonoha won't let him do perverted things to her, while Sekai is "easier".] - spoiler[Now why would there be people who doesn't even know he's going out with Kotonoha?] - spoiler[Looked really glum when Kotonoha invited him to her house again. "I know that she won't let me do it with her there, so why should I be happy about this?"] - spoiler[He basically ignores her and talks and laughs with everyone else but not her. It's like when one guy is invited by his friends to hang out with a group, and then the friend and his group completely ignore the guy and pretty much hang out by themselves, except in this case it's Makoto doing this to his own girlfriend. I'm surprised she took it this lightly.] - spoiler[Did it again at the train station. Completely gave her the cold shoulder, ignored her and found an excuse to leave quickly. Jeez, if you're trying to break up with someone, at least don't be a prick about it...] - spoiler[He comforts Kotonoha only after Sekai tells him to, and does it for his own benefit so he won't appear like a complete bastard to Sekai.] - spoiler[Confession to Sekai: "I don't care about Kotonoha anymore." Prediction - He's going to get together with Sekai, get tired of her, go back to Kotonoha (or just never officially break up with her and continue seeing Sekai in secret, which would be even worse), and say the same thing back to her except replace 'Kotonoha' with 'Sekai'.] - spoiler["Before was...practice for...today". Enough said.] About Sekai, spoiler[She noticed a good half of the above things, and could *almost* play the role of the third person spectator who sees what a not-good guy Makoto is and what he's doing and is definitely the closest one in the cast to see what's going on (a.k.a. she isn't stupid), but her love for him completely blinds her and distorts her view of him. She scolds him about his pervertedness and many of his way, but the mercy she shows due to her infatuation with him restricts her and she makes light of serious issues that portend serious problems in the future based on Makoto's behavior.] Anyway, Taisuke actually seems like a decent guy (at least he's open about his pervertedness while Makoto hides it and makes a huge tangled mess of lies and excuses to fulfill his selfish desires), and I'm rooting for Taisuke x Hikari. |

I meant to say this before, but if there is one this show has going for it, it does have some good fanservice (and some amusing SFX to go with it; "Oh yeah!"). It has some nice character designs as well, and some amusing attire (namely, Sekai's work 'uniform').
But man, Makoto is painful to watch. And by "painful to watch" I mean, "I doubt I'll ever want to watch this again thanks to him." He kills the rewatch value. He better be one of the bodies at the end, I'll be upset if he survives.Certain aspects of the girls' characters are almost as bad, namely the "Well, guys are horny bastards, but thats just the way they are so we need to just learn to be comfortable with them feeling us up and groping us."
Actually, I take back what I said. The fanservice (and SFX), Setsuna, Hikari, Sekai, (some of the time), some amusing moments here and there, and (hopefully) a bloody, violent ending give this show some potential rewatch value. But man, Makoto is a douchebag (and an idiot in general) and there are some painful moments in this show and it really does hurt the rewatch value. Episode 5 commentary: spoiler[-LOL "pushpushpushpush" -mmmm, yum, fanservice. And great sound effects, specific to each pair of beautiful boobies. -Makoto's friend is even worse, except for the fact that he's a comic relief character and can't be taken seriously. I guess Makoto has some admirable moments here and there -er, they sure are putting some detail into the guys nipples... far more detail than they put into the girls' in the opening. -subtitles: "*orgasms*" That wasn't an orgasm, that was a startled gasp. Someone needs to watch more porn.
-"She's just that open to guys" Translation: She's gay for Sekai. Go Setsuna! Save Sekai from the evil bastard. -Oh, nice job commenting on Sekai's breast size. Way to go, genius. -Okay, I was getting annoyed with Sekai's repeatedly helping Makoto get together (and along with) Kotonoha, but now it makes sense: She just enjoys toying with other people's relationships. And now her hobby is getting in the way of her own happiness. Or so it seems, but in reality, its helping keep her away from an evil bastard. So she should hook up with Setsuna instead and continue facilitating Kotonoha's misery and other people's relationships. -On the one hand, its admirable that Sekai is trying not to be the evil friend who steals her friend's boyfriend. On the other hand, she's also feeding Makoto's desire for her (the whole 'special training') and continuing to try to push him to continue a relationship he doesn't have his heart in when he's realizing he prefers Sekai. She's missing her chance and her actions will ultimately hurt Kotonoha more. -and of course, the first thing he has to do WHILE CONFESSING, is grope her ass. And here I was thinking that he hadn't been that bad this episode. -And immediately after that, its time to screw. Another peeve of mine. "We're dating now, so now its time to screw."]
I'm rooting for Setsuna x Sekai and with Hikari joining for an occasional threesome. I like Taisuke far more than Makoto, but I still don't like him. On the other hand, maybe once he actually has a girlfriend, he'll be a bit more of a gentleman and actually value his relationship. |

I agree that Makoto is a dick, but this just makes the show more intresting. The characters are very different from each other and this makes the drama even more great.
Personally I'm rooting for Sekai+Makoto happy ending, without hurting Kotonoha, but I guess that's impossible. I know Makoto deserves to die but I dont really like to see anyone get hurt at the end of the show. Anyways this is one of the most intresting shows there are, and I look forward to see how it develops and what will happen at the end. |

I didn't think it'd be possible but after Episode 6, Makoto just got many times worse, and the episode was really embarrassing not to mention infuriating at what a goddamned moron/prick/bastard/two-timing no gooder/coward/loser Makoto is. I suppose that's one of the key merits of the show, but at this point...Makoto needs to die messy. I wouldn't be satisfied with anything else.
spoiler[Makoto's complete assholeness this episode can be boiled down to multiple offenses in the three following: 1) Fondling Sekai every chance he gets, without regard as to whether he's in public or not, and coddling her with gratingly irritating talk that he had given to Kotonoha very shortly back. 2) Being a complete bastard to Kotonoha, ridiculing her inside (not explicitly shown, but heavily implied), giving her the cold shoulder, shrugging off her desperate and longing attempts to simply get him to just look at her properly, making up ridiculous lies and feeding them to her and feeling no remorse whatsoever, and just an overall "I have established that I don't care about you anymore, so just f*ck off please would you?" type of attitude. 3) Refusing to confront Kotonoha about all this, tell her the plain truth, and break up with her properly. This by far IMO is the worst offense out of the three, his defense for shutting his mouth is "oh noes she will get mad at me," a piss-poor and extremely selfish reason. Claims he'll tell Kotonoha "eventually". And when would that be, 10 years later when she gives him a marriage proposal? ]
Prediction: spoiler[Since Kotonoha now knows the truth, she'll probably stalk Makoto and there will be carnage by the end of the show. Hopefully.] |

Congratulations Makoto, you have now become my Most Hated Anime Character of All Time. This show had better end with him dying messily and painfully. I hope that focus on the spoiler[knitting needle] in episode 6 was foreshadowing its future use as a murder weapon.
After the first episode, I couldn't see anything wrong with Makoto other than being a typical teenage male (a bit of an idiot, but that's curable to some degree) and I thought Sekai was awesome. Now, I despise Makoto, I am REALLY disappointed in Sekai and I just feel sorry for Kotonoha. I hope to God that Kotonoha goes Higurashi on Makoto's ass. And I hope she then commits suicide and Sekai learns her lesson and decides that lesbianism (with Setsuna as her lover, of course) is the only way to atone for her crimes and stupidity. At this point, I don't see how this series can end in any way other than spoiler[Kotonoha murdering at least Makoto, quite possly Sekai as well. Though I suppose simply committing suicide is another, less desirable, option.] Blood must be spilled, anything less will not be satisfactory. |
