The LSDF seems to be the lowest-risk of the choices in terms of ways and chances to die horribly. Plus, if you're not cut out for gunplay, you still have a job stocking books.

It's retail with automatic weapons Very Happy

Count me with in the the others who are irritated they didn't get the option to serve in the Legend of the Galactic Heroes universe. I'm definitely on the side of the Free Planets Alliance spoiler[(later the rebels)]; I'm just a democracy fan, plus, you know, I'm mildly in love with Yang Wenli.

No Gintoki and Hijikata, Goku and Vegeta, Kenshin and Saitou (and maybe Sanosuke)? Hmm... But Lupin and Zenigata on the top is good.

Alice Academy (Gakuen Alice) - 4%

The anime version has apparently toned down for TV broadcast. The manga version I read has the most vicious and horrifying campus life in shojo manga I've read or known.

I'd second that. I definitely would not want to go there.

SMS is a civilian contractor organization though, not technically part of the army. At least, in Frontier; I don't recall if the SMS was a formal organization in the other franchises (and I haven't actually watched Seven yet).

My favorite "frenemy" duo is Meimi Haneoka and Daiki Asuka from Saint Tail. Though I am neither surprised not offended that it wasn't included considering the general obscurity of the show.

Hayao Miyazaki does a good job of exploring "frenemy" territory in his films, too. Just to name a few, Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle both have multiple "frenemy" dimensions (ex: Chihiro and No Face, Sophie and The Witch of the Waste).

How about Miaki Yuki and Yui Hongo from Fushigi Yugi or Youka Nakajima and Yuka Sugimoto from Twelve Kingdom they start off as friends and/or classmates but then end up being pitted against one another bec one is always jealous or envious of the other having the attention focused on them or Son Goku and Kougaiji from Saiyuki.
