I like the original KITE a lot as well. I prefer the uncut version; made ya hate Akai so much more.

The 'which version is best' question needs an option for people like me who know about the different versions, but haven't seen them. How do I really know the edited version is best if I haven't seen the uncut one?

Kite was good, Kite Liberator was better in my opinion, please Media Blasters bring the next one over!

My preference would be for a cut version with the 1 important rape scene re-animated non-pornographically. That one scene is pivotal to the film, and, as you said, it "made ya hateAkai so much more." But the rest of the pr0n is just gratuitous. Mind you, I have nothing against gratuitous pr0n, but in this case I feel it diminishes what would otherwise be a better anime. -t |

The average mean according to the Top 10 page is 7.4964. Kite's score is 6.6726 on the arithmetic mean. 6.8071 for Kite Liberator. Knowing that there is only one title holding a score above 9 and just one below 3, a difference of one point means a lot. From the 5051 titles held by the encyclopedia, 3038 have scores. From these 3038, Kite ranks 2063 and Kite Liberator ranks 1824. The way I read it is that the ANN community views them not as bad, but below average. o_o so wait, I didn't know that they added the pornographic scenes, I thought it was part of the storyline anyway, regardless. It didn't really bother me at all.
When I first saw it, it was uncut...but after watching the whole thing, I'm in a way, glad that they did. It made the ending such more enjoyable. xD I have the full uncut version as of this year, though I saw the original edited version years ago. |

Wow, what an odd and random survey.
I have the full uncut version. I also like Kite. I have never seen the edited versions, but every time I watch it I think to myself this could really do without, so I voted accordingly. It's strange, the show actually has really good flow, but when you get to the sex scenes it's like they gave it to some high school film club student with 8mm film and said, "here kiddo slap these scenes in here for us, here's twenty bucks". Yeah, it messed up the flow that bad. I am not saying it shouldn't be highly sleazy, edgy and erotic. But pornographic kind of takes away from things in my eyes. I rated Kite higher than Liberator, but if we ever get to see the second half(  ) of that show, it may change.

You need to be more specific on some of these questions. By "original", do you mean the version initially released here, or the version initially released in Japan and/or Europe? Also, for question three, it'd be nice if you had a half-and-half option. [I.E. You didn't think it was necessary, but it did improve the show. Or you didn't think it improved the show, but you thought it was necessary.]

I've only seen the edited one without the rape scene, but I have seen Yellow Star. I don't know really what to think of the Kite films, I thought that the storyline was definitely something interesting, it probably would have done great if Umetsu wasn't forced to add p0rn in there. While everybody seems to have been hating on Liberator, it sounds like it's something that happens when Umetsu finally has his way with his anime.

Maybe Umetsu would too, but the problem is you don’t get to have that. You have to deal with the series as it is. While the sex may have been mandated by the production company, it's there now, part of the thing. You can’t just take it out and say "now it’s how Umetsu wanted it to be". He played the hand he was dealt (quite well) and a number of the scenes are quite important to characterization, unlike in Mezzo Forte, where they were deliberately irrelevant and stood being excised very easily. You can't really understand Sawa's character without the infomation those scenes provide. I found Liberator's wacky nonsense compared very poorly to Kite's harsh drama, but my answers to this survery make it look like I'm just in it for the porn. It would be unfortunate if that conclusion was drawn by anyone of importance. "The people have spoken; Liberator 2 will be 80 minutes of schoolgirl rape." |

i watched kite yesterday morning and then i saw this poll! weird.
anyway, i loved it! one of favorites. unique plot. appearently liberator isnt tthat great, but i'll pick it up because its one of the only anime titles in hmv. |
