Oh! Miss Hokusai! I loved that film. I saw it when the Japanese Film festival was on in Australia. It was a full house and the audience loved it.

Don't go in expecting a consistent narrative. It's more a series of vignettes that each tackle a different issue. The film relies on the strength of the characters and setting, not of the story. If you can get by that, it's a good film.

Also just know that it's got some mild sexual content. They don't show anything, but the artists do draw ancient hentai. If you're against that, maybe this isn't the film for you.

I've actually been meaning to watch Miss Hokusai at some point. Obviously been looking for something fresh and more like I would have expected out of anime in the days of yore and that was one that stuck out in lately. Hearing about it winning all these legitimate awards (as in not just otaku industry awards sponsored by Kadokawa and the like that they give themselves but real actual hard ones to win with an independent jury and internationally as well) has kind of raised my interest level as well. The fact that it's produced by two of the few studios I have any respect for anymore in I.G and Sunrise also fills me with hope that it'd be both a competent film and a good watch.

Nice to see it screening their,so I have a chance to see it Very Happy Really hoping GKids picks up the rights since it's a perfect fit for them and Funi and Sentai seem to have no interest in it

I bought the Tekkonkinkreet I think in September '07 and I never watched it. I have to go through my bins in our garage to find it but not in this heat.
