I see they're trying to pull an Aikatsu Stars even though a boy has already been in the series, I really didn't care for any of the M4 at all, I have no expectations for these boys either. Show by Rock has much better boy bands.

Actually PriPara is a continuation of the prior Pretty Rhythm series multiverse canon (with some crossover material here and there, particularly in the first movie). Pretty Rhythm had male idol teams in each of its series and has since spun off the "King of Prism" movies that are focused purely on that (largely thanks to the positive response to the inclusion of a Pretty Rhythm male team segment to the first movie showing there was a strong market for it).
Given that Aikatsu itself was a response to Pretty Rhythm, it's obvious that Aikatsu Stars is copying Pretty Rhythm, and PriPara is just continuing the tradition finally. |

This is a show for young girls, of course the target audience going to want boys in it. :/
