It does make me wonder what will be the ideal end point for the first season consider we have 26 episodes total for now. Hopefully the anime onlies won’t consider the transitional arc after the spider mountain arc too boring

My thought was that the anime would adapt that one arc spoiler[on the train]; it's fairly high stakes with an impactful ending. But i admit it's been a while since I've read that part of the manga, so i don't remember if there's a bunch of stuff they'd have to skip to get there.

Demon Slayer fans should rejoice. Not only is Ufotable knocking it out of the park with the production, the manga itself is currently in a very great state. What we’ve already seen is nothing compared to the greatness that’s yet to come. I’ve just completed my binge of the entire manga via SJ app and it’s been a great journey. Definitely not perfect, and I suspect many others will see the contrivances that can sometimes muddy the enjoyment of the plot, but the heart and character development remain strong.

Rui was a twisted villain in that he wanted a family but he treated them as expendable tools. An interesting aspect of Demon Slayer is that as the demons eat people they lose their morality and spirituality which causes them to become materialistic and utilitarian. Rui viewed other people as tools and if they didn't do what he wanted or if they tried to escape he would kill them. The spider story arc was horrific but it worked as the polar opposite of the situation with Tanjiro and Nezuko.

Demon Slayer had great animation from the first episode but episode 18 was amazing and had the best animation I have seen from a TV anime this year.

spoiler[Train arc] is better left for season 2, better gut punch around the 10th episode. Giyu's mismatched haori wont get explained until season 3.
