As someone who is probably way too tolerant of fanservice in anime, I feel like the fanservice in this show might be too jarring to those who are not used to this thing (even though I was not really bothered by it at all).

Honestly, I enjoyed Droopout Idol Fruit Tart. I want more of it but I don't think it will ever get a sequel for pretty obvious reasons. I wouldn't recommend it as it is super horny show about very young looking characters.

Dunno if I'd say the show was laughing at the girl during the yuri joke (from watching maybe 4-5 episodes) but I definitely agree that they just weren't funny and they would always just stays as yuri baiting. The fan service was also very jarring, it's really no joke that one character is only ever mentioned for boob joke.

It's a shame cause there were a few things I liked about the show, the "weird idol from loser agency" aspect was funny and how they constantly had to scrape for food.

I think I watched 2 or so episodes. I was attracted to it because I adored the character designs. They're so good! I especially love how they incorporated mouse and cat designs in hairstyles. The concept of a failure idols facing bankruptcy was also an amusing twist.

But the show didn't really grip me and the fanservice stuff was so tedious. Not even shocking, just, kinda pathetic?
I kinda wanted to watch more but mostly because I liked the cat themed rival character and wanted to see more of her, and see if the show got funny. But definitely wasn't on the top of my list of priorities, and this review definitely doesn't lift it higher in the list at all.

Dropout Idol Fruit Tart is a seedier idol show and I like it. As to the question of "questionable" yuri, I do remember looking at it through the "can't have boyfriends" lens of idoldom.... straight girls under orders by management not to be publicly straight... in short, I didn't any of it seriously.

That pervert-audience-insert manager got on my nerves a lot of Nina being indeed 90% boob jokes made me groan, but overall I liked it? I kind of admire its stupid boldness but it could get repetitive and, well, the first sentence of this post.

As for the kind of humor, I don't think the punchline was that they're gay? Nayu's crush on Ino is depicted as the cutest thing in the show.
Rather the main punchline how horny they are full time. Not that they like girls but how they express their sexuality. That said this very factor might still be conflictive. How the big little sister was so sadistically fond of her small older sister was amusing to me but I can see how it would be a minus to most people here, for instance. The yandere archetype is also pretty divisive, but I love the decission here to make her go with permanent heart-pupils.

Anyway, it's always kind of a shock when a Kirara series gets this lewd. It's not unprecedent but it certainly isn't common, specially to this degree.
