I'll give Capcom credit for making Exoprimal its own thing. Seeing dinosaurs and a character with a design that was obviously referencing Regina had me worried this was going to be a continuation of Dinocrisis being way off the mark. I could see a scenario where it might have started out conceptually as a Dinocrisis sequel, but somebody realized it was better to make something new, instead of veering off course and sticking a recognizable label on it.

Man, it's so cool that Chaos;Head Noah is finally getting an official English release! I do already have Chaos;Child for PS4 but I guess I can double dip.

That's pretty much what the majority of people are coming to the conclusion of. There are just enough small homages to Dino Crisis in Exoprimal's trailer that it had to have been a Dino Crisis game at first, only to then become the new "Devil May Cry was originally going to be Resident Evil 4, but went completely against type".

I'm just gonna be over here in a corner, hyperventilating over dead rpg franchises coming back in non-gacha forms. I mean, I'm not going to get too carried away and preorder the thing, but its such a fun burst of nostalgia and hope to see any new VP game.

No comments on Melty Blood coming back to EVO after many, many years? It came a long way from having bathroom tournaments, you know?

As for the State of Play, it's nice to see a new Valkyrie Game but that Gundam Game is what really surprised me. Although it brings to mind the arcade mecha games. Still pretty nice to see it. I just hope it plays well.

Another great example is how Sekiro was originally conceived as a modern Tenchu.

Exoprimal was a hell of a surprise, and it looks like it has the potential to be a lot of fun. What's not to love about mecha + dinosaurs? Also, considering this is from Capcom, it'd be awesome if they could give this game the Monster Hunter style treatment when it comes to content.

Agree with everything else RE Sony State of Play.

Regarding EVO, I disagree that having an exhibition match for each game was boring padding. I thought it was nice that each game got some time dedicated to it and considering how fractured the FGC can be, it's cool when collectively everyone watches each other's games at high level. Overall, it was a good move. That said, yes, the hosts actually hyping up water was hilarious and I expect that to get meme'd to death.

They have to make back their money somehow on this high budget production flop

Hopes were high that the State of Play broadcast would showcase the highly-anticipated Final Fantasy XVI, since the last we heard, the game was set to get more news in “spring.” Alas, this was not to be – but that doesn't mean there was nothing worthwhile about this showcase.

According to outlets like Push Square and other people the only game worth caring about that wasn’t shown was FFXVI

Also a number of games from japanese publishers were shown….so much for Sony hating Japanese games huh?

THE VENUE THIS YEAR HAS A WHOLE BUNCH OF FREE WATER REFILL STATIONS!

(This might sound sarcastic. I assure you: it absolutely is not.)

Honestly, the stream itself was kind of a drag,

Well at least we know where that water is being sourced Razz

FFXVI will probably be updated during a Square presser, not Sony's frankly pathetic attempts to emulate Nintendo Directs. Years in and they STILL can't get it. Anyway:

-TMNT: This was weirdly the one that got my attention due to the fact that we FINALLY get a port of not only the Turtles in Time, but both the arcade and SNES versions.

-Valkyrie Elysium: We'll see how this goes; Square has a mixed record on revivals that veer into different genres, especially when the long-term team isn't around. Front Mission Evolved was a trainwreck, 3rd Birthday was a misogynist trainwreck (funnily, both it and FME were written by creepoid Square hack Motomu Toriyama), and Left Alive is impossible to categorize (funnily enough, ALSO an attempt to spinoff Front Mission). We'll see how this goes, but I'm not getting my hopes up

Did Gundam just rip off Overwatch knowing that Blizzard no longer has a leg to stand on in the morals department?
