EDF! EDF! EDF!
But seriously, its cool this franchise is alive. In an era where every gane is either a triple A million dollar corporate focus tested mess, or an experimental indie game with 3 developers(paraphrasing), EDF is the rare AA budgeted game. It reminds me a lot of games from the ps2 era, when games were way cheaper to create.

Whenever I think of EDF, I think of Uzaki and her senpai playing it...

Well, from what I understand various Japanese developers had problems transitioning to the development of HD games which were more expensive, that's why even after the release of the PS3 and X360 there were a lot of games still developed for the PS2 like Persona 4, the Wii, PSP and DS also got a lot of support from smaller developers. Nowadays that all consoles are in HD it seems that the development of japanese games has slowed a lot, even the Switch, despite having an install base in Japan as big as the PS2 and 3DS, has trouble in getting third-party support aside from big companies like SE, Capcom and Konami

Of course. Think of games like shadow hearts, wild arms, blood will tell, etc. Not low budgeted games that have little effort, but not final fantasy with huge production. Pretty middle of the road, graphics and budget wise. We just don't see it that often anymore.
