I hadn't heard of "Chibisan Date" before now. I hope that Tokyopop does return and does an English language version of this. A Japanese artist moving to Nantucket would be a pretty good manga to read. It's one of those properties that I don't care who gets it as long as someone does get it. And I predict that people would say that this would be right up my alley and they'd be right. This sounds like a real good manga.

I remember reading some blog-only strips that Himaruya posted. It was cute, and I always wished I could read more. What stands out to me the most are the chapter titles. They are things like "Today I Made Cookies and Tried My Hardest. Just One More.", "Cloudy. I'm Embarrassed. I Want to Hide Somewhere.", "Clear with Occasional Rain. I Want to Believe in Myself.", and "Clear. I Gathered My Courage and Took a Step." I don't know why I enjoy them so much. Maybe it's because they come off as melancholic.

I hope someone licenses Chibisan Date in the future. Also, does anyone know how Right Stuf's Hetalia releases went? I know Stu Levy said last summer that volume 4 and 5 would be released eventually, but we haven't heard a peep since. Hetalia also doesn't show up on the 2012 Bookscan top-500 list, but I'm not sure if TRSI reports to them.

There was a chapter pre-view at the end of the second volume of the Hetalia manga. It looked like TP was going to release it, but then they closed down. It looked alright I would buy it if some one did a NA release.

Ahhh this makes me really sad...(MY ICON HAS BEEN CHIBI-SAN SINCE I SIGNED UP) I could really relate to the protag (Seiji) like WHOA because he understood all my feelings and frustrations about art. Then there was that one chapter about being away from home for so long, which is really close to me as I can relate...

I hope it ends on a good note though, and maybe Himaruya can start updating his blog again. I really miss his interactions with his fans. This guy spoiled me rotten... Embarassed
