Hetalia's Himaruya Ends Chibisan Date Manga

Series about young artist living in Nantucket to end next month

The 19th issue of Gentosha Comics' Comic Spica magazine, which will ship on April 26, will publish the final chapter of Hidekaz Himaruya's manga series Chibisan Date. Himaruya launched Chibisan Date in Gentosha's Monthly Comic Birz magazine in 2009, but the manga went on hiatus for more than a year before resuming in the inaugural issue of Comic Spica in October 2011.

Chibisan Date centers around Seiji, an aspiring young artist who moves from Japan to the island of Nantucket off the southern Massachusetts coast. The manga follows the day-to-day life of Seiji and the local people on the island.

Tokyopop had planned on publishing Chibisan Date in North America as it did for the beginning of Hetalia, but it shut down its North American publishing operations in May 2011 before the first volume was published in English.

The same issue of Comic Spica will also end Kujira's Tenohira no Pan (The Bread in the Palm of the Hand) manga series and start Shion Miura and Ban Nishida's Mukashi no Hanashi (A Story from Long Ago) manga. The 18th issue of the magazine published the final chapter of Rie Arai's Okaasan wo Boku ni Kudasai (Please Give Your Mother to Me) manga on Thursday.
