For original animation, I would say the biggest challenge for me is just getting there, because traffic's so terrible in L.A.

Amen. We don't have the most jammed traffic in the world, or even the country (it gets pretty bad in Hololulu and Boston), but we definitely have the rudest.

Good interview. The story with Guilmon and the autistic child had me tearing up as well.

Thanks for the interview!

I really miss watching Anime with him in, in the past 5 years I only know of 2 shows he was in. I don't get to watch as many Anime dubbed as I once did, but I haven't seen any that stand out like Steve does. And some of them are terrible.

I had no idea the "subs vs. dubs" went back to the late 80s. Most of the old Anime I've met only watch the dub, regardless of how bad they are, and a lot of those old dubs were REALLY bad.

I didn't realize that it was bad enough that people would actually harass the actors like that. Seriously, showing up at a guy's home because he voiced some cartoon characters? It's pretty scary how wrapped up people get with things that don't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

At least things improved enough that he was willing to return to conventions.

Man, Steve Blum is just as cool a guy as you'd imagine, and that Digimon story is amazing!

Steve Blum is still a rock star in the anime community (not sure about his video game work) and he's one of the coolest guys to meet at a convention. I remember getting his autograph for the first time (line was so long that I started around 4pm and it was nighttime when I got close). Kept seeing people actually crying when they met him face to face and overheard some pretty amazing stories. He even played the guitar for one of the attendees! When I finally got to front, he kept reassuring me like "Don't be nervous! Thanks for waiting so long!" Very Happy

Blum is totally one of the best people in the biz but I wished he could be in another big anime.

And yeah that whole harassment for sub v. dubs proves just how self-entitled people can be about a cartoon. -__-

He has done some memorable video game roles, one of the most notable was Ares in God of War. My favourite was the Thugs-4-Less leader in ratchet and Clank. Check out a list of his works, you've probably heard him in something and not known that it was him.

I got to get his autograph a couple years ago and it was awesome. Sat in on his Q&A beforehand when he talked about wanting Toonami back and how excited he was that so many people supported the return (this was like a week after the April Fools airing by CN). Steve Blum is my favorite voice actor in the industry and his work doesn't disappoint.

Don't forget Vincent Valentine from FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus (I'm one of the few people who actually likes that game).

I'd love to meet this guy someday. He just seems like the kind of guy who would help you move if you asked him to, you know?

Let`s also not forget .hack game series whom he did the voices for Sanjuro, Wiseman, & Yata. And Final Fantasy 12 as Ba`Gamnan, and Final Fantasy 13-2 as the Arbiter of Time.

I`m not gonna I almost jumped for joy when I heard him voice in the 40K: Dawn of War games ( I know not a lot of females play Warhammer because of it being a guy-ish game, but I love to play it!) And squealed when I heard him & Crispin Freeman voice in Diablo 3.

I'm amazed he didn't watch Bebop until recently. Disappointed honestly. Also that's really sad about sub fans being so hostile. At least Steve's dubs are GOOD, unlike a lot of newer people from the last decade or so.

Steve Blum is a voice acting super star, and with good reason: not only does he have that fantastic deep, but smooth voice that reverberates, but he's a master of his craft, injecting a lot of great personality and arresting presence in every character he portrays. And yet he also seems humble and extremely grateful for the opportunities he's been afforded and his fans. I cannot praise this guy enough, he's one of the best.
