The Nibley twins are professionals; they translated Fruits Basket! I hope this win revitalizes their careers!

I also hope all these manga get official English releases. It doesn't look like last year's titles did, though.

Yes, there have been a few stories about this contest. They had a story in Jan. '14 and one last month.

Googling "Mangapolo ANIMENEWSNETWORK"has some results. Another place that offers legal scanlations is Manga Reborn.
