I've never really thought I'd see the day 4Kids would acknowledge Black Magician Girl figures, let alone release them here, after all the years of censoring her in the anime and cards. Also I need that Yugi for a figma sized duel disk alone. So many posing opportunities.

They probably see how the figma market has probably grown in NA and just want a piece of the pie.

It's worth noting this isn't 4Kids. 4K Media is actually a company owned by Konami, which was formed prior to the lawsuit that occurred with 4Kids and TV Tokyo/ADK, provided the information I found awhile back is accurate. However, having said that, Konami bought out the old 4Kids Production Studio when they bought the Yu-Gi-Oh! license and have used that studio for the basis for 4K Media. Some of the staff that were at 4Kids now work for Konami instead at 4K Media. The name, honestly, is probably more of a coincidence being similar.

It's also worth noting that the studio has been actively making Yu-Gi-Oh! available in subtitled format via Crunchyroll (and prior to this, Hulu, but they've stopped supporting this platform for the subtitled content). So I doubt they would actively censor the more fan targeted material, which this is who this is being aimed at.

At any rate, good on them bringing this over here. The only thing I'm left wondering though is what exactly is going on with Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V. So far, no deal has been made in place for Television (and I don't expect there to be, truth be told), so I'm left wondering where they plan to distribute this. Given Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal's situation, I expect them to probably go to Hulu, but Netflix is entirely an option as well.

Certainly rare for such figures to get an official American release. Well, I already ordered that other Dark Magician Girl figure so I'm not very interested.

Considering that this anime franchise is officially dead here in the U.S. (Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V won't be airing here, and I highly doubt any U.S. theater will show Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Darkside of Dimensions), I'm surprised stuff like this is still happening.

It's amazing that Yu-Gi-Oh figures such as these are getting an American debut, considering that we no longer have the TV show airing here anymore.

So when/where do I purchase these if I live in Canada? Will they appear on Amazon as a pre-order?

You can still order from Otakumode from Canada, if you register you can even see the prices in Canadian dollars (CAD) under the USD price. They might just check your IP/location and give you CAD prices without registering, but I don't feel like logging out to check.

I can see that "no commerce" rule on ANN, but I assume I can link these since this is an ANN sponsor and it's on topic. If not hopefully someone will correct/edit my post.
https://otakumode.com/shop/564a9dc94c1e63b9285b84b3/Yu-Gi-Oh!-Dark-Magician-Girl-1-7-Scale-Figure
https://otakumode.com/shop/564a99dbeecacebd285ab12d/figma-Yami-Yugi-w-Free-Display-Case

These are the direct links for the products that ANN should be using in their article. I understand they're trying to use referral links to see how many people go to their site from ANN though, so be sure to click the Otakumode or Omakase front page links in the article to give the ANN/Omakase/Otakumode partnership some clicks.

OT: Great looking Dark Magician Girl figure. The detachable duel disk on the Yami Yugi figma might be funny to have too.

I've bought some of the birthday Love Live figures already and I'm not that attached to Yugioh anymore, so I won't be buying. But If you want a cute Dark Magician Girl figure though, now's the time.

Well Yugioh Arc V has been airing in Canada and Australia which are then posted online, since America looks to not be airing the episodes, i will just have to settle for online, and the dub has been very good in my opinion

I highly doubt that's correct. Razz It won't get a 2000+ screen release like the 2004 movie, but I'm sure it'll get an event run. Even the 3D movie got that and there was far less interest in it.

It's nice that NA is getting more Yu-Gi-Oh figures, but I think I prefer Koto's line.
