The official website for the anime of Nekomaki's Mameneko cat manga announced on December 11 that the anime will premiere on Tokyo MX on January 8 at 25:05 (effectively January 9 at 1:05 a.m.). Each episode will be five minutes long. The anime will also stream on Niconico, Bandai Channel, U-NEXT, Video Market, dTV, dAnime Store, and GYAO! in Japan.
Yuzo Yamamoto (Chō Zenmai Robo Patrush director) is directing, writing, and producing the series at studio Charaction (Boku no Imōto wa "Ōsaka Okan"). Yoshinobu Yamada is the art director, and Ryō Hayakawa is the sound director. Studio Inspire is the recording studio, Studio A-Cat is composing the music, and A Craft and On-Lead are producing the music. Ayaka Segawa is performing the anime's theme song "MIKE." The lyrics will have a cat motif.
Nekomaki launched the manga in 2013, and Sakurasha published the manga's eighth compiled volume on July 4. The manga follows the daily life of a household that has two cats: Azuki and Daizu. Azuki and Daizu belong to an office worker in her 30s who loves cats. The owner lives with her father, mother, grandfather, and older brother, the latter of whom the cats call "Megane" (Glasses). Megane adopted a Shiba Inu dog named Mamenosuke after Mamenosuke's owner died. Mamenosuke grew up around cats so he actually thinks of himself as a cat.
