Teekyū Tennis Manga Gets Stage Play Adaptation

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Piyo, Roots' original manga series has inspired 5 TV anime series

The official website for the Teekyū television anime series revealed on Monday that the franchise is getting a stage play adaptation. The "Butaiban Teekyū: Senpai to Meguriau Jikan Tachi" (Stage Version Teekyū: The Times I Happened Across My Upperclassman) stage play will run for eight performances between July 29 through August 2 at the Japan Newart College's Ōmori campus theater in Tokyo.

The staff of the play will reveal the cast and ticket information in the beginning of June. The staff has also opened a website for the stage play.

Piyo and Roots launched the original Teekyū manga in Comic Earth Star in early 2012, and Taibundo published the ninth compiled volume in March. The first anime season was announced on the manga's first book volume. Earth Star Entertainment claimed that it was the fastest television anime adaptation ever. The fourth season of the television anime adaptation is currently airing, and a fifth season (key visual pictured below) has been greenlit.

Crunchyroll has streamed all four television anime series as they've aired.
