Bandai Namco Entertainment America began streaming the God Eater Prologue original video anime with English subtitles on Thursday to promote its upcoming western release of God Eater: Resurrection. Anime studio ufotable originally created the anime as a prequel to the original God Eater game, and it animated the in-game animation footage.

The prologue takes place six years before the events of God Eater: Resurrection and follows Soma, Lindow, Tsubaki and Johannes von Schicksal.

God Eater: Resurrection shipped for PS4 and PS Vita in Japan on October 29. It is an updated version of the 2010 PSP game God Eater Burst, which is itself an update of the original God Eater game. The game improves graphics and event scenes for the newer hardware, and it also adds an epilogue that bridges the story with God Eater 2.

God Eater Burst shipped in North America and Europe in 2011. The sequel, God Eater 2: Rage Burst, shipped for PS4 and PS Vita in Japan on February 19 and is also slated for a western release.

The God Eater television anime premiered on July 8, and Aniplex of America is streamed the first nine episodes on Daisuki and then on Crunchyroll. The ninth episode ended with an announcement that the final four episodes are "coming this winter." The 10th episode will air on March 5.
