Starmyu TV Anime 2nd Season's Announcement Video Streamed

New series premiering in spring 2017 to feature Yūta Hoshitani as second-year student

NBC Universal began streaming announcement video on Monday for the second season of the STARMYU television anime series. The video describes the upcoming two-part original video anime (OVA) project, and then mentions that the second season will feature Yūta Hoshitani and his friends as second-year students. The video features the catchphrase "I don't know how to give up on my dream!"

The first 12-episode STARMYU television anime series premiered in Japan in October. Funimation streamed the series as it aired, and it describes the story:

Ayana Academy: home of musical dreams and insane competition. New student Yuta Hoshitani dreams of being in show business, but to get there he'll have to gain acceptance from the Kao Kai (Cherry Blossom Flower Association), Ayana Academy's three highest ranking students. For Yuta and his friends to get into the music department, they'll have to get into the Star Frame class, which is taught by the Kao Kai members. Though the newcomers are struggling, they catch the interest of one of the Kao Kai members, which just might send them on the starlit journey they've been dreaming of!

Shunsuke Tada (Kuroko's Basketball, Prince of Tennis) directed the series at C-Station (Dragonar Academy), and Sayaka Harada was in charge of the series scripts. Asami Watanabe designed the characters, and Tadako (Arashi's "Love so sweet," "Monster") was responsible for the dance sequences.

The OVA volumes will ship on July 27 and September 21, respectively, and will serve as episodes 13 and 14 of the anime. The project is set at Ayana Academy after the students finish the school festival and face the new year. On the day the current Kao Kai members end their final duties and leave Kao, every team holds a performance during the graduation ceremony to offer their thanks.
