A-1 Pictures Animates Blend S Manga for Fall Broadcast

The July issue of Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine is revealing on Sunday that A-1 Pictures (Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend, Ace Attorney, Oreimo 2) is animating the television anime adaptation of Miyuki Nakayama's Blend S four-panel manga. The anime is slated to premiere in October.
The manga's story centers on a girl named Maika who gets a job at a cafe where all the waitresses are given certain attributes — such as "tsundere" or "little sister" — to embody while serving customers. The manager asks Maika to be the "Do S" (extreme sadist) waitress, so she will have to adopt a dominant and aggressive persona.
The manga debuted as a guest series in the magazine in 2013, and Nakayama launched it as a regular series in 2014. Houbunsha released third compiled book volume on January 27.
Yen Press announced in July that it had licensed Nakayama's ongoing Spirits & Cat Ears manga. The sixth compiled volume shipped in Japan on January 23, and the North American publisher released the second volume on May 23.
