"Join the Resistance"
What the ever living f***? Sonic Mania does look pretty damn fun though; nice to see Sega do a 2D game right for a change. While I do think that they're hammering in the nostalgia in way too much, the game itself looks fun enough for me not to care. Christian Whitehead is a genius, so the project should be in safe hands. |

No matter what sonic does he f#cks up people in the youtube comment where going crazy when sonic mania was announced they prematurely raged over the fact that theres no 3d sonic games and the 2d fans raging over the 3d fanboys wanting sa3. Then they announce gen 2(Im assuming) and people complain about how its not anything new or sa3. Sega tries to cater to the 2d and 3d fans but still ends up getting flack when NONE of them have even played the game. This fan-base really is just the worst.

Please let this 'resistance' be the Knothole Freedom Fighters from SatAM/Archie Comics.

It seems like a super safe choice to me to go back to using the generations formula, but since this is Sonic we're talking about who can use some stability, ok. Regardless of wether we went back to the adventure formula or not I would have liked to be able to have played as Tails or Knuckles as well in a 3D game but if this means a better game in the long run I'll take it. And the new 2d game looks pretty interesting too, it overall looks like a legitimate solid effort is being made here, and I'm hoping that's not me giving out too much credit.

SEGA just needs to sell out to Sony or Nintendo so I can get some real sequel to Sonic Heroes...

Frankly...Sonic Mania seems lazy as heck. Just looks like a port of Sonic 1 with more characters and added abilities.
The Sonic Generations sequel-looking game has potential, though. I've been waiting for a good Sonic platformer after the disappointing Sonic Lost World and abysmal Sonic Boom. |

"We've captured a freedom fighter." Nonetheless, Sonic Mania looks as enticing as anything from this beleaguered franchise. |

Please no! I am glad we now have Sonic games for PC. That would've been out of question if they sold it to Nintendo or Sony and we would be back where we were when Sega had its own console, in period of Sonic games exclusive for one console. I definitely don't want to see that era again. |

I'll pick up Sonic Mania at launch with the Neo as I'm not getting the Neo this year, as for the 3D Sonic game, if it's good I'll get it on the NX.

I know this appears in every comment section for a long-postponed game finally coming out, but: "Hell, it's about time".
But really, for the 3D game, it looks like a cheap combo of Sonic 06 and Sonic Generations. Last edited by Gemnist on Sat Jul 23, 2016 10:39 am; edited 1 time in total |

I like what's been featured in Sonic Mania. Colorful 16-bit scenery and some serious trailblazing... It's looking to be a very fun title that pays homage to the fun 16-bit days of the Sega Genesis era.
Edit: Oh yes! 4600 posts! |

I doubt Sega even has the rights to use the characters from the Archie comics, but if they do I hope it's a dimension hopping kind of story |

Sega controls what the Archie Comics show and tell the writers what parts of the storyline need changed if need be, even what is restricted. So yeah, Sega does have the rights to use the characters as they're the ones who originally give approval, just not Ken Penders's bunch (but at this point you would have to be mad to want to use them). |
