mm, along with a few earlier people. Beck has both swimming and rhythmic gymnastics.
and to the person a few posts above. it sounds like the current volume of beck that's out (12? 13?) is likely the last one tokyopop will release? meaning i'll have to fully switch over to the french editions |

The closing sequence for Cat's Eye had the girls doing rhythmic aerobics. I mean, big hair and leg warmers - that's gotta count for something.

Rhythmic Gymnastics, eh?
Princess 69 and Hikari no Densetsu. Considering the material of the former, Hikari no Densetsu may yet be the chef de mission for rhythmic gymnastics anime. |

Code Geass had no gymnastics. But it did have swimming, and also diving. An equestrian club featured in a couple of episodes, though they weren't doing much show jumping.

well, we do have more sport anime and manga then all of us thought.
we have a figure skating manga: Ginban Kaleidoscope (manga, anime, and Light Novel was never released in the US) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ginban_Kaleidoscope Sugar Princess (released by Viz Media) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_Princess I think there are more Judo manga/anime then just Yawara!: Obi o Gyuttone! (never released in US) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obi_o_Gyuttone%21 Judo Boy (never released in US) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judo_Boy Beside Princess 69 and Hikari no Densetsu, there is a man artistic gymnastic: Ganba! Fly High (never released in US) I haven't seen any women artistic gymnastic yet. Well, I have seem a little element of swimming in anime/manga, but here are some true swim/dive manga: Rough http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rough_%28manga%29 Dive! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dive%21%21 Kenkō Zenrakei Suieibu Umishō http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenkō_Zenrakei_Suieibu_Umishō There are a lot of sport that Japan hasn't made a manga based on. They haven't done: -Skiing -snowboarding -luge -Skeleton -Field Hockey -Lacrosse -Shooting -sychronized swimming -artistic gymnastic (women to be exact) -Rugby -handball -water polo -Beach Volleyball -cheerleading Who say that these sports need to be a Japanese manga. That's why I'm glad we have OEL manga/global manga. To expand these genres, Germany already did it with Gothic Sports (publish by Tokyopop). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gothic_Sports http://www.tokyopop.com/shop/1801/GothicSports/1.html?PHPSESSID=544d5fd5b3f38412ae90e0992ee6aa2d Now imagine Romania doing a manga on women's gymnastic. Also imagine USA doing a OEL manga on Beach Volleyball (probably based on Misty May Treanor and Kerri Walsh). Try imagining Lacrosse manga done by France or Canada. You get the idea. |
