I'm concerned they're going straight for the extras and not casting any other major characters for the film. I hope the studio is aware there are other main characters in the GITS universe besides the Major. They're somehow expecting to get this out in 2017 but they have yet to say who else is going to be in this movie or even what the plot or setting of the film will be.

I'm just happy it's not Fox. Dreamworks has a fairly decent flop to hit ratio, whereas after DBZ/Fantastic Four I wouldn't trust Fox with anything outside of Xmen or Simpsons.

This movie probably won't be as bad as Oshii's attempts. Oshii's GITS was pretty bland. The designs were unlike the manga, the adaptation was a half-assed attempt at one of the arcs and the humor and espionage was turned into some sort of brooding think piece. Oshii's GITS is comparable to the 2003 Hulk.
