Unlike years ago, they're completely legit now.
They're of the anime subculture (If you want to go that far).
to my knowledge, Crunchyroll members don't tend to have any weird political leanings.
Crunchyroll usually doesn't tend to steal show licenses from Funimation or hulu.
I want to say that it isn't due to it being in the anime biz.
However crunchyroll does show up next to names like Netflix and hulu (at least in the background), so if someone wanted to make a statement against streaming without making a huge statement It could be a possible choice (for them).
Most likely though, is just a group of bored Hackers doing it "Because it's there" (maybe to get people to go to their Illegal streaming sites?).
at least its happening when the Japanese TV Seasons change, so we have the fewest shows being affected... |
Despite being legit now, they still do a lot of things that upset people and I personally have a grudge against them so I'll admit I laughed when I read this. If anyone deserves it that has had it this month, it's CR. Also they never got punished for being illegal but rather rewarded which i still find hilarious. |
So the people who subscribe to Crunchyroll deserve it too?

Heads up. It's possible the same fuc...folks who hacked the PSN and XBox Live networks are actually selling their DDoS attack as a service.

Thanks! I hope a service that you pay for goes down indefinitely too!

Is this also a reason for the "Just a moment..." screen that keeps popping up whenever I visit ANN?

Some people just want to see the world burn.
(Seriously, Anime? Of all targets?)

Unlikely if it's just a DDoS attack. |
Regardless, keep an eye on your Credit Card or other accounts aeport any suspicious activity as soon as you spot it. You can't be too careful these days. I almost got burned when someone stole me Debit Card info from a gas station ATM (luckily I caught the fraudulent charges the day they were posted, and was able to put the kibosh on it pretty quickly).

But don't you remember? They only took down PSN and XBLive to show apparent flaws in security! Why would they need to monetize it? :p

@revolutionotaku
Yes. As inconvenient as that "Just a moment..." message may be, it's better than waking up the next morning only to [possibly] find out that X Website is no more.

They said nothing to link any attacks on ANN to "Lizard Squad".
