I've been wondering what's the difference between buying a normal box set and getting a thinpak version. I've heard that the thinpak version's contents are affected, that it's only the dvd's with the episodes in them, no extra features. Is this true?

Hope you can help me with this 'cause I'm considering buying some thinkpaks but want to know what and how much I'm sacrificing.

thanks all!!

Regarding ADV titles, certian thinpack boxsets have extras removed. You can tell what ones have no extras if you compare the total ammount of single discs, to the total ammount of discs inside the thinpack box. So far, the only titles to be released with extras intact are Raxhephon, Full Metal Panic!, Noir (I think) and the upcoming Gantz Season One.

As far as every other company is concerned, the thinpack boxsets contain the exact same disc content as their single release.

Noir has disc extras intact but not liner notes. RahXephon is also in 7 discs on the thinpak, and has all disc extras. Other than those two and FMP 1st Season, I don't know of any others that are the same number of discs as the original release and have extras. Gee, I can't wait for the completely worthless NGE 6-disc Platinum Thinpak Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Given how I've already given ADV more than enough money for Evangelion by getting the first seven volumes of their first run, I personally see a TON of worth to their Platinum thinpack. I don't know about you, but getting an upgraded copy of a series I've already essentially paid for at a mere $60 or so (at the expense of a few extras I likely wouldn't have bothered with, anyway) is absolutely awesome beyond words.
