God... it's like "sex sells", only it's "moe sells".

I don't really get what's so attractive about moe myself. I see it on nearly everything over there.

Cute? No way. You have to use the word moe so that is sounds more mysterious and is easier criticize.

"I hate cute characters.", sounds absurd.
"I hate moe characters.", sounds strange enough that it can be hated for being strange.

Kittens and race queens are cute, but I wouldn't call 'em moe. Laughing
(Takes more than cute to be moe, though both kawaii and moe are attractive in Japan.)

The phrase "serviceable translation" gets thrown around a lot here so I'll use it too. Cute is a serviceable translation of moe for this conversation.
