Wow I'm surprised no one voted for naruto but then again it can't be as bad as the number one voted anime clocking in over 3,937 episodes

And here I was feeling guilty about thinking Folktales from Japan was starting to creak at 200+ episodes (it was only supposed to raise funds for the earthquake, how many years ago?)
But yes, Case Closed at 800+ episodes should not happen. At least we rotated Scooby-Doo's series concepts every few years. Doraemon, however, just never gets old.  In fact, the 10's episodes are even better than the vintage 70's episodes I managed to find on the sly. It's only just starting to get good.

Episodic family-friendy comedy anime don't really need to end as long as the quality doesn't drop. I'd rather see story-oriented anime like Naruto (which has finished source material) end in a timely manner because those types of anime suffer heavily from the dragged story and slow pacing.

I agree, since the manga finished over a year and a half ago, I really want the anime to stop doing awful filler and wrap the series up in a good manner to do justice to all the years the series has been going |

Rough translation of the One piece comment: "The Anime is catching up to the manga, and so the pacing for the anime has become pretty bad. (I think) Ending for a little while might be good for it." Nice to see that we agree with Japan on this. |

Interesting that Naruto and Bleach isn't among them, since both those shows have been bogged down with unnecessary filler episodes. Then again, Naruto is seemingly on the way to finishing up...
A bit off-topic, but I wonder if The Simpsons, the longest-running cartoon of the U.S., is in the same situation as Sazae-san? |

I agree. If they feel the problem is that the show no longer represents the modern way of life, it might be due some changes to adapt to the new times, but I don't see why that alone would be reason to end it if it's still popular even as an outdated show. |

Maybe the surveyed people just aren't the demography of those anime? It seems to be a very small sample, and most of them named anime they used to watch as children or used "don't want my kid to see this" as a reason to cancel a show... not sure they're the same people who would watch Naruto and Bleach. |
