So it's raised $40,000 in 12 days and has 3 days to earn $30,000 for a dub of season 2? Looks like that's not going to happen. Unfortunate. Wonder if that will effect whether it comes out on blu-ray, the only thing that's likely to effect me, a sub watcher.

Well the last 48 hours, 24 hours, and 12 hours are where it should pick up steam, especially because it's already reached it's base funding goal, it puts more confidence in the product succeeding. The focus becomes "get the stretch goals", maybe it won't hit all of them but it's best to keep the hope alive until the last minute with kickstarters.

Embarassed Guess it shows how old I am that the name Jessica Calvello stirs up a completely different set of roles in my memory, especially one in particular (that of Excel Excel, which required such a grating tone that she couldn't get more than halfway through Excel Saga). Interesting what a difference 20 years makes. Definitely have to take my time now listening to Attack on Titan now.

So, if it meets the $180,000.00 goal for season 2 that means we will have to purchase it through RightStuf if we already have supported season 1?

Kickstarters always see a big boost in the last 48 hours, since that's when the "Remind me" notifications get sent out. I fully expect it to hit the final stretch goal.

If it's like the Aria Kickstarter, you'll be able to purchase it as an add-on to your pledge via a special listing on RightStuf's site.

It is for Blu-ray on it - that's one of the pieces of the project. So if you don't want the dub, you can still support the Blu-ray. (by the way, this series has NOT been released on Blu-ray in Japan!)

There will be new tiers unlocked, and you can then get it through the Kickstarter or you can get it through the slacker backer (as long as you have supported the project in some way.)

As an audition clip I think they fine, and I assume once they've had a dialect coach, they will be a lot better.

This was done very quickly just to have something there for people to see, and they are rough. But a start!

Skip Beat, Escaflowne, Aria, and Emma are so far the only anime that I am aware that have gotten Kickstarters for Eng. dubs or Eng. re-dubs. Each show or the first season was nearly or over 10-years-old between Japanese premiere date and the end of the Kickstarter campaign. I think there would have to be at least 10-20 finished campaigns to truly carry weight of saying something like "For anime that is over a decade that has not gotten a proper Eng. dub, it seems Kickstarter is 1 of the best ways to market it".

Thoughts?
