They didn't even wait for the announcement which was dated for the Weekly Shonen Magazine”s 32nd issue, the leak was becoming too much important i guess, anyway, Nanashi-sensei has come a long way glad for him/she.

I guess it was only a matter of time huh. Her not being voiced by Kurosawa Tomoyo - as in that commercial - is a missed opportunity, but Sumire is also a great VA, so it's probably fine.

This series started off with a level of cruelty I wasn’t super impressed with, but it really found its footing at the end of the first volume and I really liked the second (I wish they’d hurry up and release the next one in English...).

Looking forward to the anime!

Ahhhh, thank you for keeping Nagato in the appropriate smug presentation for the visual reveal.

Yeah....when the anime adaptation kicks off, I fully expect it turns off a good chunk of anime-onlies, because it really took its time to turn from “that’s just gross bullying and verbal abuse” to “awww, ain’t that cute”

Yeah, Nagatoro's verbal takedowns were brutal in the beginning. However, that surprise aspect was something I enjoyed since I didn't expect her to be that relentless coming from reading a manga with a similar set-up with far more passive interactions between its characters. In fact her behavior is such a night and day difference between her original bullying and what she does now that I personally think she's lost her edge. Hopefully anime-onlies won't take her too seriously and decide not to support the anime.

The key art makes me concerned. The way Nagataro looks is a bit off, especially the eyes.

I feel so conflicted when a hentai artist I like goes clean and commercial... On one hand, I'm happy for them, like seeing them all grown up. On the other hand, I feel like I just lost someone near and dear to me and know that newer fans will not be able to appreciate them like I have... (TT.TT) Guess this is what a being a parent feels like? (^.^')

Her bullying was never about power or harm, but rather to incite interest.

Most bullying is evil and vile stuff, and when there is a physical aspect to it, the bully should be removed from the normal school system. Most schools don't take bullying seriously, they don't allow you to use physical force to defend or protect yourself, and if you do so, find you just as guilty as the bully. Nor do they watch the bully's followers.

I never got that feeling from Nagatoro in the manga.

I would argue that reducing the male lead to tears in the first story is actually evil and vile. There’s picking on somebody affectionately and there’s going too far and that went way, way too far in my opinion.

Like I said, it gets a lot better and it becomes clearer that she IS better than that, but her initial impression will be a lot to get past for some people and I wouldn’t blame them.

Hehe, evil Takagi maybe for the first couple chapters. Like I said, this book really puts its worse foot forward first to the point that I wouldn’t even recommend it to anybody triggered by bullying, full stop.

They really figure her out after that and it becomes more of the ‘merciless picking on a guy yet you’re here doing it constantly, so why?’ sort of attraction. It’s shown in the first couple volumes that mean as she is, Nagatoro finds sempai way more interesting than most guys and she’s also pretty protective of him when push comes to shove.

I honestly thought I would hate it after those first chapters but now it’s on my pull list, so I would not judge it by initial appearances.

I was suspicious of the manga at first, thinking that it would eventually escalate to the lengths of the doujin (which at its peak, features Nagatoro brutally kicking Senpai until she realizes that she went too far... eventually). Thankfully, the manga balances itself out soon enough by making Nagatoro's vulnerabilities more obvious and even having the Senpai occasionally "win" in his interactions with Nagatoro instead of being one-sided. It even has a chapter about a in-universe manga where there is a heroine as brutal as doujin Nagatoro, but manga Nagatoro realizes that she can't go THAT far with her bullying.

Maybe i was too used to Nanashi's usual facial expressions but I've never felt like Nagatoro's bullying at the very beginning was "cruel", it was already obvious enough back then that she wasn't much different from the typical mischievous character awkwardly seeking attention from their "target".
There is no secret about their feelings by now spoiler[( she has been a jealous tsundere for a year or so )] but we could actually even argue wether her feelings were already romantic as soon as the first volume.
