Disney really dropped the ball with Summer Time Rendering but it’s good to see it finally officially released in the states.

Disney has gotta get their stuff together when it comes to streaming, I completely forgot they even had Kindaichi since it aired almost a year ago at this point. You can't tell me the largest media conglomerate in the world can't afford to figure out simulcasting. Even Netflix 2 week delays or end of season dumps are preferable at this point.

I think the problem when it comes to the Asian shows Disney aquires is because they are doing to boost subscriptions in the Asian markets but neglect the west. We can see this with the anime’s that they have acquired as here in the west they don’t put any effort into promoting them ( I didn’t even know Tokyo revengers S2 was being simulcasted on Hulu until I saw it mentioned here). If Disney is serious not just about dabbling in the anime market but also Korean dramas they gotta do better work with their marketing outside of the Asian countries. |

Especially the dramas, I'm pretty sure there's a large fanbase for those that probably won't want to shut up about how disney doesn't simulcast their k dramas lol |

I'm still of the opinion that the US branch of Disney wants nothing to do with these shows, there's no way that they would have chose Black Rock Shooter, Summer Time Rendering or the show with the Manji that had to be cut to ribbons to be shown in America themselves. It's not too surprising that they've done the bare minimum so far, but with Tokyo Revengers getting simulcast, maybe there will be some kind of change going forward?
I actually would have told you Kindaichi was on Disney+ already though. Don't they actually have a couple of dramas in the states, or am I imagining things? |

Honestly I’m really starting to think the same thing too, if you look at the press releases when Disney announces anime acquisitions it’s the Asian branch that announces it. To be honest I feel Tokyo Revengers got simulcasted since it’s a pretty big IP of Kodansha. I do find it funny though because the shoes that they have picked up like Black Rock, Summer Time Rendering and even Tokyo Revengers don’t exactly scream Disney to me. It’s going to be interesting to see if Disney decides to stay investing in anime long term if people in the west don’t really watch their stuff on Hulu. Not just the U.S. branch, in other regions where it premiered on Star+ there was barely any publicity unless you checked their official social network accounts. Even Netflix gives more publicity to their anime shows. If Disney wants to attract anime fans they should advertise their shows better. |

What with TR S2 only having closed captions subs on Hulu(like with sound effects and character name labels, etc) doesn’t seem to be change for the better. |

So... question. I have been waiting for the Kindaichi series to be available on Disney+ in the US... but I have not seen it on there since they first announced that it was going to be globally. Is it not available to view in the US?
However, this time I should be able to view it on the Hulu account instead? |

It is marketed as a "Hulu Original" on Hulu, so it's unlikely it will come to Disney+ anytime soon. 10 episodes are available on Hulu, with sub and English dub pages separated. |

I mean Disney barely promotes their own original American animation like Strange World so I don't think we can say a lack of promotion means Disney's US branch doesn't wan to be involved with anime. Disney has already announced an exclusive streaming deal with Kodansha and has several new titles coming out and are also creating a Twisted Wonderland anime. I think Disney probably always wanted to stream these shows on Hulu in the US but had to seek approval from the Japanese licensors first about what platform it could stream on.

I live in Indonesia, and Disney+ ads are everywhere. Even on traditional TV channel. Other than promoting their own original property, anime, J-dorama, K-drama, Indian movies, Indonesian original shows are also heavily promoted. Even my personalized ads on FB are Disney+ anime... |
