It's insane to think that after all this time, One Piece is a stone's throw away from being simuldubbed.

It's pretty nice that there's going to be a dub world premiere of episode 1000 but I think it would be much nicer if the One Piece leftover movies, TV specials, OVAs, etc. are going to have an English dub at this moment. Filler or not, the English dub wouldn't be complete without the leftovers being dubbed.

Darn, I’m actually seeing the HoloEN Concert the same night :/ Still, happy to hear this is finally happening. Hopefully it gets out on streaming services soon after.

The English version of One Piece has come so far. Just a couple of years ago, we all thought FUNi was gonna drop it… or at the very least just not prioritize it AT ALL.

Now we’re almost caught up and One Piece becomes the English dub with the most amount of episodes dubbed.

I honestly still can’t believe. The growth OP has done for itself in these last few years is insane.

Now that they're very close to the latest episode I'm sure they'll shift their focus on all the other stuff after they caught up. It'd be weird if they didn't.

I want to see all the other movies dubbed as well. Especially Movie 1, Clockwork Island, Baron Omatsuri and Episode of Chopper. Seriously love those movies.

Hold up! We still only have 964 dub episodes and July is a month away how can they release all 36 dub episodes to reach 1000 in just a month!?

Very cool that Toei is doing this! I went to Anime NYC a couple years ago and I remember they did this for the subbed premiere of Ep 1000 as well.

What a feat for a dub to reach that milestone, especially from the same studio. I think the only other show that comes close is Pokemon and they did switch relatively early in its overall run.

I heard from a VA that the movies aren't licensed in the US due to personal issues that I can't remember tbh. Also the studio that made the OP OVA was Production I.G. and not Toei so that maybe another reason

It's not impossible that they'd drop the rest of the dub eps in one batch, but they're probably banking on people having either seen the sub or the manga chapters beforehand and are airing this one early as a treat. Toei did a similar thing playing the first Digimon Tri dub movie in theaters and then skipping movie 2 and premiering movie 3 dub at Anime Expo as well.

They should get permission to play the 4Kids One Piece rap before the 1000th episode, just to play with people.

The Pokemon dub is also behind the Japanese airing but they still felt the need to talk about and promote the final league/episodes and news of Satoshi leaving the show despite it being a huge spoiler to people who only watch the dub. I think hype and marketing supersede anything else.

Although in this case the 1000th One Piece episode is also almost like 2 years old at this point so they're a bit late to board that hype train.

A lady that can throw her voice to make it sound boyish.
