I generally don't care about JPop, but SMAP is one of the few bands that I actively dislike. The whole Kodocha music licensing fiasco is still a sore spot for me. Enough people refused to by the release because of it that we never got the second season.

It might have done poorly, anyway, but I saw lots of forum posts by people saying:
1) They were not buying it because the music is removed
and
2) They were not buying it because it may not finish

...So my set will forever be incomplete Mad

I was a bit Whaaaaaa?? at first because I thought they meant SMAP was really recruiting new members. Which is INCONCEIVABLE (I hope you heard that in Wallace Shawn's voice) because SMAP is awesome. Not so much music-wise (though they have their moments) as talent-wise, if that makes sense.

You've got them confused with Tokio. SMAP didn't do Kodocha. There was some sort of incident with SMAP and the music rights in Akazukin Cha Cha, but that will likely never get released here anyways.
