Was Lightning really that popular?
FF games in general sell lots of units, but I never felt that XIII's characters were received exceedingly better than most. Yet SE continues to produce XIII games. There's the XIII-2, Versus in development (which, admittedly, does not focus on or perhaps may not even largely feature the main XIII cast), and now this. It's all been in a relatively short period of time. I suppose it could just be that Square is experiencing some trouble in terms of game development. I imagine the XIV cut still stings. Are they just trying to steady the boat? |

I imagine it's them trying to emulate western success at pumping out sequels non-stop. Square Enix has mentioned their desire to produce at a rate more like their western counterparts; they've said they can't ever take such a long time to make a game again like they did with the original XIII. I'm guessing that means they are also focusing less on completely original material, and thus they're falling back on what they know works and what they can turn into a strong brand rather than making new characters and a new universe every time.

I hope they make it so that you don't have to play XIII or XIII-2 in order to understand this. If they're successful, this can essentially take XIII's place as the "XIII" game like A Realm Reborn is doing with XIV.

Why? Are they just not going to release a new single player FF till the next gen? Because 13 is still the most hated FF ever, unless you count Mystic Quest.
The sooner Spoony starts with those FF reviews, the better. |

Cry more. Your tears fuel my love of 13 (not so much 13-2). Excited for this nonetheless. One of more enjoyable experiences with an FF game aside from IV and VIII. (Didn't enjoy 7 though I did like Crisis Core.) |

*facepalm* Square-Enix you are now considered my new Capcom. Keep pumping out the sequels "Capcom."
It's funNy because my friend yelled at me on the phone acting like I was the one who asked for SE to make another FF13 lol. He played FF13 and 13-2 and loved them, but he said he's sick of Lightning now, because of this game and said he hopes her name disappears forever. My response to that was "Dude... it's lightning outside." He hung up

The costume concept sounds interesting but I am not a fan of the time of day thing, FF XIII needed to improve the pacing not have me wait 30 minutes for a monorail.
Personally I am a fan of Lightning as I felt like she was a strong female character not just a strong character. |

yet has been done with 13 days & 13 nights cue ticking clock of 24 on it as well? so if 3 part i this is part continue bad end of xiii-2? |

Final Fantasy XIII (Disgrace to the series) Final Fantasy Versus XIII (If it even exists) Final Fantasy Agito XIII (Probably going to be left in Japan) Final Fantasy XIII-2 (Why a sequel to that one) Can we either move on to XV or leave this dying series behind? Things sure have gone downhill since the PS2. Edit: No, Mystic Quest isn't the most hated, that dubious honor is for XIII and XIV, MQ actually has a few redeeming qualities. |
