If it's Lupin III, made in the past decade, and doesn't involve Takeshi Koike, it's not worth watching (probably have to amend this after the new TV series premiers). This is a unnecessary crossover movie sequel to the unnecessary crossover TV special.

There are Lupin III features to watch and others to avoid, and this is the latter.

Either Discotek has the rights, or TMS just decided to finally stop letting torrenters cut them out of potential revenue.

I thought the movie was great. Conan and Jigen's interactions are always hilarious.

It requires you to watch the previous special though, since the plot picks up where that left off.

This was TMS uploading it themselves, like they've been doing with some other Lupin material lately, along with some of their other classics.

Yes, because clearly you are the end all authority when it comes to what's worth watching and what isn't, right?

(Though to be fair, I've yet to watch this movie yet. The special itself wasn't quite as good as I would have wanted, and I've heard the movie isn't either, but going in expecting just fun with characters I love? I'm sure it'll be fine enough for that.)

I liked the movie a lot better than the special for what it's worth. Disappointed Haibara only got a short scene with Fujiko, though.

I liked the ending hinting at a third movie with spoiler[Lupin VS Kaito Kid] I hope it gets made even if it was a gag credit sequence.

I think it would be great to see Lupin x Conan movie & Special get a US release on BD and DVD. Who knows, this might also get Magic Kaito to be licensed as well.

I'm not seeing much of a refutation.

I'm not the end all authority of anything, but I am somewhat an authority on Lupin, since I've seen just about all of it and can support my opinions on the franchise.

The TV special was a terrible idea to begin with. First, we have two characters that have no need to meet, who nobody asked for a crossover for. Lupin already has a detective adversary. Conan already has a master thief adversary. The only thing the two have in common is that they're TMS properties. Lupin has been watered down so much in the past decade or so he barely resembles the same character that appeared in the original series. And after several years without any theatrical features for Lupin, the best they could do was a sequel to the TV special? Conan gets a new theatrical movie every year but Lupin has to be teamed up for his new one?

Well, fortunately Takeshi Koike made Daisuke Jigen's Gravestone. It's good to have a Lupin where he has some kind of gravity. Sayo Yamamoto is to thank, too, for the Fujiko TV series. And if the new TV series is anything like those, maybe Lupin is finally starting to see a new golden age.

But these TV specials and this movie that's basically like the TV specials - limp, toothless, weak representations of Lupin and the gang - have all but murdered this franchise. This is Fisher Price Lupin.

penguin: TMS should've gone with this crossover idea, and they should be able to, now that Madhouse is in the same NTV family. But Conan's their bread and butter, and maybe less of a hassle to negotiate with the publisher over, so they went for an easy concept. Anyway, my next idea was to have Lupin crossover with Indiana Jones in the reboot of the latter movie. And just so no one jacks me and gets all the credit, I already tweeted this to Frank Marshall and suggested this to Kitamura's crew, as well. Only Lupin is allowed to steal suggestions from me. Cool Hence why I also let TMS have this proto-moe Fujiko concept used in the spin-off show.

[Edit]: removed unnecessary snark. Errinundra.
