Nothing about this seems like a children's show to me.

Don't like it, don't watch it. Stop ruining everyone else's fun.

This is a real Gundam series, just like it should be and the best TV airing Gundam in years, it's not for kids despite how it's marketed towards.

Stop letting your kids watch something as violent as this if you don't like it or your kids can't handle it. Be the parent not the TV set.

As an adult, I found the scene in question disturbing. I can see how parents had a problem, especially since Gundam has a much younger target audience in Japan than the US (teens vs young adults).

To be fair, censorship is weird in every country. In the US, it's ok to show crazy blood and gore but "bitch" gets bleeped out.

Why can't Japan just make a TV rating system?

Yeah, the violence is a bit too intense for children. But that dude with the Hitler 'stache is just fine. Rolling Eyes

I was shocked by the scene too, but in a good way.

"We won't have an "Just understand/be friends" ending!!!"

It also lets you know the person who did the shooting is messed up mentally. They've shown numerous times int he show that the person doing the shooting lacks essential human qualities. Even the character's best friend is rather scared of the character for how he handles death.

Its a strength of the writing!!

Anime need to stop pushing the merciless child soldier agenda, glamorizing that stuff when people are suffering from it in non affluent nations with broken social structures is not good.

The scene would have been better if Mika had instead used a beam cannon to incinerate the character in question like most other Gundam do, or thrust his beam sword through the character in question.

The anime is better when it pushes the BL agenda MikaTakaka, EugeneOrga style.

Honestly asking for some age rating to pop up at the beginning isn't outrageous to me. Pretty easy to implement too.

Since the term "Iron Blood" was used by the Imperial Army for a unit of child soldiers drafted late in WWII, I bet the complaint comes from a right winger who doesn't like the implications of the story and is looking for anything to complain about.

Without a standard set of ratings, then someone will complain its too low, or too high of an age bracket. Check out Japanese fairy tales, shit's brutal. Why should Sunrise have to pioneer a ratings system on their own and inevitably only hurt their own ratings?

There's no winner in being first to implement ratings.

Pretty sure Japanese viewers aren't watching it on Hulu. Also it isn't too much to ask to throw a warning up at the beginning of a show. I know little kids watch Gundam. Hardly anything new though Japanese kids in the 80s watched Fist of the North Star and yeah....
