A chance to see a Takarazuka musical without having to take a flight to Japan? Sign me up!

So cool! Too bad it's so expensive (I know, compared to Broadway shows it's a bargain) and for such a short period of time. Maybe they'll be discount tickets floating around Groupon or something...

If I weren't afraid of getting lost in that city I'd be so up for that.

OMG OMG!!! XDDDDDDD I never thought I'd see Zuka in the US in my lifetime~~~~ It's too bad they're doing CHICAGO instead of the awesome-looking Rurouni Kenshin musical, and it's likely to be OGs performing rather than one of the current troupes. But still... considering Wao-sama now lives in NYC, I'm pretty sure she'll be reprising her role as Velma Kelley. I'd love to see Komu/Asami Hikaru live again too... *__*
This is such exciting news~~~ For anyone who wants to check out a possible cast list, here's the TakaWiki page for the 2014 100th Anniversary OG version of CHICAGO that this one seems to be based on: http://www.takawiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Chicago |

Hey, I get nervous too and I *live* in New York! Google maps has very detailed and easy to use public transportation directions, and most of the city (at least Manhattan) was built as a grid and is very easy to navigate once you get used to it. And--insider's trick--it might seem intimidating to ask New Yorkers for directions, but don't be afraid to do it, people will help you out. |

UWAHAHAHAAAA! I want to go so bad! I couldn't even spell for a second! x'DDDD
Oh goodness, this is really cool and wonderful. I know I won't be able to go, but I hope those who do really enjoy it, and that we get more Takarazuka across the country. |

Just of note, a Japanese actress actually already played the lead role in the English musical of Chicago in Broadway:

I hope that some ANN readers will be able to attend the Broadway show and write about it here.
If you ever make it to the Osaka / Kyoto (Kansai) area of Japan, take the Hankyu or JR train to Takarazuka and not only see the Grand Theater (and perhaps a show) but also the Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum. |

When I think OGs, I think Japanese theatre troupes.

I have my seats front and center of the first balcony for the Friday night performance! I'll be writing about it on Okazu. I've managed to see shows at the main Tokyo Takarazuka Theater, the secondary theater and the Takarazuka Theater in Takarazuka, so this will be a new experience. (The secondary theater is magnifently ugly: http://okazu.yuricon.com/2014/10/23/takarazuka-hakushaku-no-reijou-伯爵令嬢/. ) Can't wait! Cheers, Erica |
