Naoshi Arakawa's Your Lie in April Manga Gets Stage Play in August

The May issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine is revealing on Thursday that a stage play adaptation of Naoshi Arakawa's Your Lie in April (Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso) manga has been green-lit. The play will have live musical performances.
The cast includes:
Shintarō Anzai as protagonist Kōsei Arima
Arisa Matsunaga as Kaori Miyazono
Misato Kawauchi as Tsubaki Sawabe, Kōsei's childhood friend
Masanari Wada as Ryōta Watari, Kōsei and Tsubaki's childhood friend who is popular with women
Haruka Yamashita as Emi Igawa, a girl who began playing piano because she looked up to Kōsei
Shōjirō Yokoi as Takeshi Aiza, a top-class pianist
It will run at the AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo from August 24 to September 3, and at the Umeda Arts Theater in Osaka from September 7 to 10. Naohiro Ise is directing the play, and and Kaori Miura is penning the script.
Arakawa's original manga follows Kōsei Arima, a former child prodigy who lost his ability to play the piano when his mother died. His daily life is monochrome, but it begins to gain color when he meets a female violinist by chance. Kaori Miyazono is an audacious go-getter who is overflowing with personality. Enchanted by the girl, Kōsei begins to rediscover his love for piano when Kaori invites him to be her accompanist for a competition.
The manga debuted in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine in 2011, and ended in February 2015. Kodansha published the 11th and final compiled volume in Japan in May 2015, which shipped with an OVA episode. The series won the Best Shōnen Manga category in Kodansha's 37th Annual Manga Awards in 2013. Kodansha Comics is releasing the manga in North America, and released the 11th and final volume in December.
A television anime series adaptation of Arakawa's manga premiered in 2014. Aniplex of America streamed the anime on the Aniplex Channel, Hulu, and Crunchyroll as it aired in Japan. The company released the series with an English dub, with the first Blu-ray Disc released in March 2016, and the second volume released last May 31.
The manga also got a live-action film adaptation, which opened in Japan last September. The film earned 245 million yen (about US$2.40 million) by selling 200,000 tickets to rank #3 in its opening weekend.
