posted on by Karen Ressler
Anime premieres April 1

TOHO animation began streaming a promotional video for the anime part of Cygames' Uma Musume Pretty Derby project on Sunday. The video previews the opening theme "Make Debut" by the main seven Uma Musume characters.

The anime will premiere with a one-hour special at midnight the night of Sunday, April 1 (effectively Monday morning) on Tokyo MX and BS11. It will also air on Kansai TV, Saga TV, BS11, and Abema TV.

Kei Oikawa (This Art Club Has a Problem!, Outbreak Company, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO!) is directing the anime at P.A. Works. Yousuke Kabashima (D.Gray-man Hallow, Lord Marksman and Vanadis) is the character designer and chief animation director. Masafumi Sugiura (aka Pierre Sugiura, Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru scripts) and Cygames' Akihiro Ishihara are both writing and overseeing the series scripts. UTAMARO movement is composing the music at Lantis.

The main seven Uma Musume characters are also singing the ending theme "Grow Up Shine!"

The cast stars:

Azumi Waki as Special Week

Marika Kōno as Silence Suzuka

Machico as Tōkai Teiō

Ayaka Ōhashi as Vodka

Chisa Kimura as Daiwa Scarlet

Hitomi Ueda as Gold Ship

Minami Takahashi as El Condor Pasa

Rena Maeda as Grass Wonder

Akari Kitō as Seiun Sky

Saori Ōnishi as Mejiro McQueen

Kōji Okino as Trainer

Megumi Toyoguchi as Hana Tōjō, trainer of the Training Center Gakuen's strongest team

The show also stars Yukiyo Fujii as Tazuna Hayakawa and Yukina Shutō as Haru urara. The cast members above (except for Okino and Toyoguchi) are also voicing their roles in the project's game.

The game is currently in development, with a planned release on iOS and Android in 2018. The game's concept begins with Uma Musume (Horse Girls), girls endowed with excellent running capability, and who aim to become top idols and compete in the national sports entertainment show "Twinkle Series." Players take the role of both teacher and trainer for the girls in the Nihon Uma Musume Training Center Gakuen (Japan Horse Girls Training Center Academy) and help them make their debut.
