Birmingham Anime Film Festival Begins Thursday

The 2025 Birmingham Anime Film Festival will begin on Thursday September 25 and run to Wednesday October 5.

The screenings will include multiple Makoto Shinkai films, episodes of the TV anime Berserk, Witchblade and Serial Experiments Lain, and a screening of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle (pictured right) on October 1.

The festival's films will be screened at the Mockingbird cinema (directions), and at the Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) (directions).

The current schedule is as follows, though according to the website more screenings will be added. The festival is organised by the Birmingham-based media collective Geeky Brummie, Mockingbird Cinema and Midlands Arts Centre (MAC).

Thursday September 25

7.45 p.m. - Ghost in the Shell, directed by Mamoru Oshii (MAC)

Friday September 26

6 p.m. - Paprika, directed by Satoshi Kon (MAC)

6 p.m. - The Castle of Cagliostro, directed by Hayao Miyazaki (Mockingbird), pictured left.

8.30 p.m. - Perfect Blue, directed by Satoshi Kon (MAC)

8 p.m. - Spirited Away, directed by Hayao Miyazaki (Mockingbird)

Saturday September 27
