Given that there is very little significance one way or the other, sympathy for people who have lot work seems a more adult reaction than celebration on the part of people obsessing over old and molding grievances. |
Happens every year during the annual anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. People could decide to celebrate the end of an empire, albeit a military empire hated by Asians, or mourn that lives were lost in the process. Y'know the debates in Asian countries. |
Whoah, way to bring up an Asian Godwin's Law.
*points to my location* Location was affected by the Japanese Occupation. Does not find your comment suitable comparison to the closing of a dubbing company.

I don't agree that superhero comics have become mainstream.
It is arguable that superhero movies have become mainstream, but superhero comics? Not one bit. The fact that the studios now have influence on superhero comics in order to make movies doesn't mean that the comics themselves are mainstream.
And about 4kids, if you don't like the Hiroshima comparison, consider the death of Mary Whitehouse, who was a driving force for censorship in the United Kingdom. It was completely legitimate to say "she may have been a nice person and beloved by her family, but her activities hurt the media and I'm not going to be sad that she can't keep on censoring."

Remember when comic Spider-Man went back to the black suit just in time to cash in on the Spider-Man 3 movie where he gets the black suit? Comics are desperate to try to catch the movie audience, but they pretty much never do. While it's socially acceptable to go see the new Spider-Man movie with your friends to kill an afternoon, sitting shut up in your room reading tons of back-issues is still geeky. The bad kind of geek, not the mainstream version of geek.

The fact we have to make that distinction shows how much the lines are blurred. Heck, look at AKB48's popularity as well.

He's not saying that.
He's more saying that no one cares about 4Kids anymore. Goddamn man, that stuff has gone and left. No use crying over spilt milk.

Do people hate 4Kids? Yeah. Were people going to erupt in cheers, while Zac leads everyone in singing "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye"? uh no, the people who do that sort of thing are in the minority.

Well, not anyone besides Yu-Gi-Oh fans anyway. That's a bit of a byproduct of how Zexal is (or 'was', I guess) the only current anime they have anymore. Otherwise, sure, all their previous shows are over and gone. It's really just Zexal they have/had left for people to complain about.
(Though there was some DBZ Kai bashing a year or so ago like Blue Mr. Popo or whatever else they did)
